This former A+ list mostly movie actor is an Academy Award winner/nominee for a movie way back in the day. He has a family member who is also an Academy Award winner/nominee. Our actor is addicted to pain killers and takes them every couple of hours almost 24 hours a day. He has quit for the most part all the other drugs he used to take.

Not surprised at all. Think Tatum will reveal more after her father dies? I think she knows a LOT more than what she has revealed in her book and in the past. If she can get sober long enough, she should write another book.
ReplyDeleteGood god, i hope not. The first book was horrible enough as it is.
DeleteRyan O'Neal has become one of Hollywood's great villains. It's hard to remember how handsome he used to be.
ReplyDelete"What's Up Doc?" with Barbara Streisand is one of my favorite screwball comedies (and one of the few movies in which Babs does not take herself way too seriously). My teenage daughter loves it too. Madeline Kahn is great as Eunice, the O'Neal character's fiancée.
@Nutty - What's Up Doc? is absolutely one of my all-time favorite movies. I can watch that over and over and over.
ReplyDeleteBabs was hilarious - loved Kahn, she rocked that role and actually, the whole cast was fantastic.
Hard to believe that is the same Ryan O'Neal we all love to loathe.
@Glue, I think it's the movie that Ryan will be remembered for, if he's remembered at all. I believe it's on the AFI's list of 100 Funniest Movies - and if it's not, it should be.
ReplyDeleteI don't see "Paper Moon" referenced much, or even "Barry Lyndon."
"Love Story" was a juggernaut in its time, but these days it is supposedly played as a joke to Harvard freshmen every year. I don't know of anyone who watches it un-ironically, and if it's talked about at all, it's because of Ali MacGraw's resemblance to Kendall Jenner.
"What's Up Doc" is a classic. Barbra, Ryan and supporting cast were all brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI have no respect for him personally but I should point out that he had/has stage four prostate cancer. That is exactly the people who should be on pain pills 24/7.
ReplyDeleteYep, that's what they're for. I would be eating them like candy if I had a similar condition. I know someone who's mom has terminal cancer and her doctor told her take as much as she wants.
DeleteIf you look up waste of life, you will see his picture.
ReplyDeleteShame on Ryan for being such a shitty dad and husband to fragile first wife.
ReplyDeleteOMG. I Googled her and she was in "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Bewitched"!!!!!!! That's so cool. RIP.
DeleteOnly the good die Young. Ryan's proof at 76 that statement is accurate.
ReplyDeleteIt was sad to read in her book that on the night Tatum won the Oscar, neither of her parents were with her at the ceremony. Ryan, of course wasn't there because he was so outraged that he wasn't nominated.
ReplyDeleteThe blinds about his behaviour have been horrific.
ReplyDeleteRemember a few years ago when People magazine announced he was terminally ill and had a very short time to live. All the morning, afternoon and night-time talk shows rolled him out for his Sympathy Tour. Uh, he is still very much alive and probably cancer-free. I hate these celebrities who use the fake cancer card to get work! Millions out there who wish they had fake cancer instead of the real deal! Smarmy!
ReplyDelete+1 What's Up Doc!!! The physical acting, the wordplay, the timing, amazing!
ReplyDeleteYa know that was directed by the guy who played Tony's psychiatrist's psychiatrist in the Sopranos?
And had an early Randy Quaid appearance? And Boss Hogg playing a hotel what, security guy? And Madeline Kahn brilliant as per always?
I love it all but the standout moment for me is Babs holding the note as she sings 'a siiiiiiiiigh'. Really catches the attention...
What's Up Doc! I need to watch that again now! Poor Tatum, what a childhod. I can see another book coming out after he dies. On that reality show a while back,Tatum was still trying to deny a relationship with him. I don't think he is capable
ReplyDeleteHe was even worse to Griffin and Redman...patrick has his mom.
