Blind Item #8 - Tenant Raper

This foreign born north of the border B list musician who is out solo now after being in a group for quite some time owns several apartments in his hometown. Many of the apartments are in very low income areas. He is known for trading rent for sex. He is also known for forcing women to have sex if they can't pay their rent on time. They are afraid to call the police because he is rich and they are not. Many times these women are single mothers who have only recently emigrated. He takes advantage of this and has been known to beat women who refuse him. He is an awful human being.

  4. Win Butler/Arcade Fire?
I know he released solo efforts

  5. Nope, he doesn't own any property in Montreal, and he's not B-list in America.
That's the tough part here - as a Canadian I can think of tons of people, but none of them are famous down there in the basement, so it's basically who would Americans even know from our music scene, let alone well enough to be B-list.

I am going to guess Burton Cummings, singer from the Guess Who. He's a drunk, a pig, and he owns lots of real estate.

    1. Is he B list? I’m not sure he’s on a list at all.

  6. Also Steve Page left BNL 20+ years ago; I liked that guess but he was only around for 3 albums, then moved to America to snort coke.

  7. +1 for Steven Page

  8. Burton Cummings is indeed on tour.

I don't understand the "single mothers who have recently emigrated" reference. I suppose Enty means new immigrants to Canada, but it wasn't my impression that a lot of new immigrants are single mothers. What would be their country of origin?

  9. Jessica Potter... That sucks about Burton Cummings in what you said or even worse if this blind is him. Though I'm more a BTO fan I like the Guess Who. Lots of bad things I'm learning about my rock heroes.

  10. Steven Page owns part of a co-op building in Toronto. There are lots of Asian (mostly Chinese) women who immigrate to Canada

  11. @tricia13 No, Win doesn't have any solo record out and he isn't Canadian or neither lives there.

  12. @ Tone & Nutty: BC's from Winnipeg, which has a huge immigrant community, mostly Filipina women - we have a Phillippines trade agreement that lets nannies, nail techs, and other in-demand people get visas fast. Just for mom though, so dad stays behind while they apply for citizenship.

"Winnipeg also has the largest Filipino community ratio (8.7%) for any major Canadian city, however the city of Toronto has more Filipinos by total population (132,445) than Winnipeg (56,400). Winnipeg's Filipino population is largely concentrated in the West End and North End areas of the city. The neighborhood around Sargent Avenue and Arlington Street is 45% Filipino,[16] and the neighborhood around Sargent Avenue and Wall Street is 47% Filipino.[17][18]"

I met him twice on tour with my old band and I was super disappointed. He was just stinking, pathetically drunk, in that sad way some people get. I wouldn't be surprised to find he had some major demons.

  14. If Burton Cummings:
    smart that he owns income real estate;
criminal that he abuses woman in this manner.

If you are in Las Vegas the end of March beginning of April, 2018, you can protest him while he is appearing at the Orleans!

It would be interesting to see who protests his actions -- if this is him.

  15. @Jessica Potter Thanks - that explains a lot.

  16. Might be Burton Cummings...might also be his former bandmate Randy Bachman, who's also apparently on tour. They formed the Guess Who and Bachman Turner Overdrive together. Bachman's bro is big in real estate in Winnipeg, their hometown.

  17. I know it's moot by now, but Win Butler was born and raised in the US.

  18. Jessica Potter +1 ... I'm not one to separate the art from the A-hole who makes it so if this is BC (and it does add up so far) I'll be done with listening to him. So he was drunk both times... Kind of him to confirm his real self so there would be no doubt. Hope most of your heroes and peers are nice.

  19. They should consider themselves lucky they can pay rent with poontang instead of being thrown out in the street w/ their kids.

  20. Randy Bachman doesn't seem the type but his brother who played drums in BTO is known to be a big D-Bag.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Jessica Potter, this does seem to make it BC, good info on the immigration, in the US we wouldn't think of that country of origin.

  22. @ToneBone And Tim Bachman seems like a real dirtbag:

  23. Actually reading more closely I think that it's clearly Tim Bachman.

"At the time of the alleged sexual abuse, from 2000 to 2004, Bohun was a foster child living in Bachman's home in the Fraser Valley.

She recalled having a troubled childhood. When she was a one-year-old, her three-year-old sister, Casey Bohun, vanished without a trace from the family home in Delta, B.C., in August 1989. Her mother, Barbara Bohun, took her own life in 2001 while Stacy was in foster care at the Bachman home."

"Bachman, 59, has been a Fraser Valley real estate agent for many years. Now white-haired, he came to court wearing a blue pin-striped suit.

He was a founding member of BTO along with his brother Randy Bachman, who had been a founding member of the Guess Who before he left the band in 1970."

(I always wonder if Enty(s) watches us zeroing in on these, thinking, so cloooooose...almost there, guys, c'mon, you've almost got it...)

  24. Carolyn... I was thinking of Robbie (big ego) but I never thought of Tim. "A co-founder of iconic Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive had a sexual relationship with a girl between the age of 11 and 14"

Even more sick... "As an 11-year-old, her breasts were small and she told the court Bachman gave her breast enhancement pills."

The H Post article is so loaded with perversion it's hard to believe one guy and not an army did all of this. FUCKIN' Shit this animal should be shot!!!

  26. ! You've convinced me - I knew it had to be the 'Peg, no one in Winnipeg would say boo to Burton or Randy. They're like Springsteen in Jersey there.

Can I say it's nice to know I'm not the only Canadian and I'm glad I finally came out from lurker hell! Giv'r!

  27. I grew up in Jersey and Bruce exposure was too much to take growing up but had to keep my mouth shut to maintain friends. lol! Randy a decent person? Got to salvage something out of this blind.

  28. I've met Tim Bachman's son several times and he is also a total douchebag. I witnessed him offer up his own girlfriend for sex in an attempt to avoid getting his ass kicked.

  29. Trading sex for rent -meh. Forcing sex for rent when short$$ should be called out and possibly prosecuted if it can be proven.

  30. ALSO: "Police in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada have filed sexually related charges against Tim Bachman, former rhythm guitarist for Bachman-Turner Overdrive. This is the SECOND TIME he has been accused of such a crime."

"The CBC reports that Bachman has been accused of sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. These offenses allegedly occurred during the ’90s. The name of the victim has not been released. Bachman is free on the condition that he avoids contact with any minors, which includes staying away from any public facility where persons under the age of 16 may be present."

  31. TIM WAS IN TROUBLE WITH ANOTHER UNDERAGE VICTIM

    A Dec. 9, 2015 article from abbynews.com
    https://www.abbynews.com/news/sexual-offence-charges-stayed-against-bto-co-founder/

Tim Bachman had been charged in May 2014 with sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching – just one year after he had been acquitted of similar charges in a separate case. These charges took place in the 1990s and the accuser wasn't mentioned but wasn't the foster child from the earlier trial.
The charges were stayed, but the decision was reached while the prosecutor handling the case was preparing for the preliminary inquiry.
What does that last sentence mean?

  32. I’m going to go with Steven Page,as well. He left BNL around 2009 after his coke arrest. Now he’s trying to rewrite history about why he left. A bold lie since his arrest was embarrassing and public. It makes me think he’s a real jerk. Also, he does own some property around TO.

  34. Katie S, Steven Page is on the board of a coop for wind energy. It's a wind turbine, not apartments. But he could own apartments in New York State.

I'm trying to find info on various singers on the sly. So far I can't find anything for Burton Cummings, David Usher, Deryck Whibley, Jim Cuddy, Maestro Fresh Wes, Kim Mitchell, Alan Frew, and Gowan. Doesn't mean it isn't one of them. I'm sure there are many more.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The thing about Tim Bachman is that he hasn't enjoyed solo success, and isn't playing now.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My first thought was Sebastian Bach.

  37. Another north of the border sleuth here ... this is not Randy Bachman. He spends little time in Winnipeg these days and is just not the type IMO. Now Burton Cummings, that is possible. Interesting that he is described as a B list musician. Can't disagree with that from a business point of view, but it's sad in that he was once truly an A list talent, maybe an A+ talent who didn't achieve his full potential. Don't agree? Check out songs like Heavenly Blue and I Will Always Wait For You on YouTube.

I used to think he just wasn't quite in the right place at the right time, but this blind makes me wonder.

    1. @CJ, the Canadian music business is cannibalistic (or at least it was). Most artists have been chewed up and spit out. It’s as if they wouldn’t allow Canadian acts to break into the American market. Gowan should have been a major star worldwide. Honeymoon Suite, The Spoons, Platinum Blond, Helix, etc., etc.

Now I’ve been thinking - low-income housing is regulated by the provincial governments, isn’t it? Is it the same in the States? Low-income housing regulated by the state?

  38. Burton Cummings has a great facebook page. He posts tons of memorabilia and interacts with those commenting.

  39. I also like Jian Ghomeshi from Moxy Fruvous for this. He's a Canadian singer, was in a band, was charged for sexual assault type activities. Furthermore, he was born in London, England. The blind item mentions "foreign born north of the border B list musician". It would be superfluous saying all that, unless he was a north of the border singer who was also born in a third country, as Jian was.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Jian Ghomeshi would be a d-list at best. That band is better known with Ryerson students. But I agree it sounds like foreign-born, raised in Canada. That would rule out Steven Page.

  41. If the citizens of other countries hate Americans so much, why are they here? We dont care what you do, but you all line up to eat up our products and then complain about it. One thing's for sure, hate breeds hate. I'd love for American media to stop hiring foreigners because they hate/use us. Start with that fat, British bottom canal of a late night host, who trash talks openly back home (like they all do).

  42. I am pretty convinced this is Jacob Hoggard from the band Hedley.
