Blind Item #7
Unless you are actually in the movie exhibition business you probably don't know there are a bunch of different awards they hand out. One of them is a big love fest between studios and the exhibitors that gets a lot of attention. The rest? Not so much. The king of all these awards for years has been this diminutive permanent A list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee. He is a long way away from the years when he really tried to do acting. Now, he is all about the money and franchise movies. Anyway, if you give him an award and pay him some money he will show up so he probably gets dozens of these awards every year from around the globe. The exhibitors love to have him show up.
Joe Peschi?

ReplyDeleteHi all! I’ve been lurking about a month now and 1st time to comment. I’m addicted to this blog!! I have to check it everyday....do I need therapy now? LOL Great to meet everyone :)
ReplyDeleteWelcoooome! Great to see all the lurkers coming out of the woods lately! 🗽👩🏻🚕🍂💛
DeleteLalalisa- welcome :)
DeleteHi! I am a lurker of years and years. It's the best here. The people make it great.
DeleteHey lalalisa57!
DeleteDeNiro.
ReplyDeletePesci has barely worked in 20 years though. Tom Cruise. Three franchises and anything else are sci-fi movies, other than American Made.

ReplyDeleteDanny DeVito. He's fun...especially when drunk, and did some TV. I don't known if Pesci did TV.
ReplyDeleteI'll forgive Pesci anything just on the basis of My Cousin Vinny.
ReplyDeleteTom Cruise. And yes, his serious movies (Taps, Born On The Fourth Of July, Jerry Maguire) are well behind him. Too bad, he can be a decent actor when he wants to be.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking Tom Cruise too. He was excellent in Born on the Fourth of July, proving he can act when he wants to. And he's a giant global star.
ReplyDeleteHi Tom 👋👋
DeleteWe ALL need therapy, Lalalisa!
ReplyDeleteTo paint like picasso, to sing like aretha or to swear like pesci.
ReplyDeleteWhy is this a blind?
ReplyDeleteWalking down a San Francisco street and heard a very familiar voice in front of me. It was Joe Pesci and another man looking in an antique shop window commenting on an item. Didn't stop because he doesn't look like the kind of guy who wants to be chatted with by a total stranger. Have a feeling he is a very intelligent, savvy guy in real life.
ReplyDelete@boo I’m picturing Joe and his friend intelligently discussing the history and craftsmanship of an antique armoire in the window and then you politely say, ‘excuse me, I’m a big fan’ and they turn around literally do a 180 cussing you out like those guys on Seinfeld lol
DeleteJoe P is extremely smart.... and not to be messed with. Lives quietly ,modestly now in a place called Lavalette NJ (all NY/NJ people know)...
DeleteLove all of your stories Boo.
ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDelete@just sayin’ Hahaha good, I do not want to be the only one!
@Boo. When Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were starting out they had a lifelong pal of theirs, a small guy called Joe Pesci act as a roadie/general dogsbody.
ReplyDeleteOne of the Four Seasons, Tommy DeVito, took particular delight in ripping the piss out of Pesci's lack of height at every opportunity much to Pesci's annoyance.
A few decades later when Pesci was making Goodfellas, his character was based on infamous psycho mobster Tommy DeSimone (who in reality was 6'2", devilishly handsome and only 27 when he was killed). DeSimone had a brother and cousins still very actively involved in the mob at that time and it was thought legally and, well, just generally prudent to change the characters name. Scorsese asked Pesci if he could think of a name to call his character that would work. Pesci, thinking about the times he got the pissed ripped out of him in the past and havine chance of belated yet worldwide revenge, told Scorsese, " DeVito. Tommy DeVito!"
He used to give my uncle (who’s is Irish ☘️/American) a hard time about who was tougher... my family was from
DeleteHells Kitchen (yeah State of Grace/Sleepers$... my uncle was- very involved with that ,sadly... but Joey P was always scared of him at first... because he was from Brooklyn ...and trust- Hell’s Kitchens boys were the OG gangsters, so gbwy ultimately got along
And they worked together several times , I left out
Delete@LizOz ???
ReplyDeleteAnyway..Joe Pesci did a hilarious holiday song years ago that I heard a part of the other day on Gilbert Gottfried's podcast. Take a listen, it's a riot!

Great story, Lonely Bastard! Never heard of that album, Do Tell! Pesci should do stand up.
ReplyDeleteI could see Tom Cruise for this. a) that ego! Every film he comes off like a kid acting out a fantasy of who he really is. And b) gotta spread the CoS word
ReplyDeletekatsmo: That is EXACTLY what they would have done! Although Joe P and I are about the same height, he would have cut me off at the knees! You're a mind reader!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations 🎉 Tommy!

Isn't it Nicolas Cage? That's who popped to mind for me, at least.
ReplyDeleteLmao @ScandiSanskrit!
ReplyDeleteTom Cruise has never won an Oscar.
