Before this permanent A list singer who loved singing about sex died back in the day, he had literally sold every piece of furniture and fixtures from his home to buy drugs. There was literally nothing of value left in the house.
Gaye was living with his parents (at least his father) in LA prior to his death. I think this is Rick James, whop'd be more likely to be living in squalor doing drugs all day at the time of his death.
Yes, Marvin Gaye had moved into his parrents’ home that he had bought for them 10 years earlier.
The argument that led to his death was over a homeowners insurance policy the father had just taken out. If there was money to buy an insurance policy, it’s doubtful that he would have done that while simulaneously Marvin was selling off all the furnishings.
And accounts say Marvin and his mother were sitting on Marvin’s bed in his bedroom when the fight started. The father also had a gun Marvin had bought him months earlier as a Christmas present. So there were beds and a gun in the house.
Rick James makes sense. Prison stint and blew his money on hoes and blow. Cried when I heard about Marvin. His songs are timeless with that sweet soothing voice. Wish he would have gotten help.
NOT GEORGE MICHAEL. He died with a lot of money, his house was beautiful and his sister inherited it. George Michael was also the only one of the lot to die from natural causes with NO DRUGS in his system, he died from heart failure, give the guy a break. Prince, MJ both friggin junkies.
Marvin Gaye ftw. Yes, cocaine is a helluva drug, completely destroying the addict's interpersonal relationships. So while this blind has to be Marvin IMO, there are lots of similar cases: Rick James, Ike Turner, James Brown and, although he's still alive, Sly Stone.
BTW, Rick James and Ike Turner once made a record together and it sounds just like you would expect. The best-known track is called Love Gravy, and was used in an episode of South Park.
Prince
ReplyDeleteDoesn't say FB but I will say GM he had a nasty Meth habit. Or Prince

ReplyDeleteMy guess was Marvin Gaye also. @americanpanda - don't forget Sexual Healing!
ReplyDeleteRick James... massive crack problem and TONS of songs about sex.
ReplyDeleteMarvin Gaye's passing & the details behind them were well known. The talent he displayed was overshadowed by his demons that he couldn't overcome.

ReplyDeleteI forgot -- while Rick James is well-known,I don't think he rates as a "permanent A-list singer". Marvin Gaye does.
