Blind Item #4
This former A list tween actor who has not worked since a huge scandal rocked the show almost a decade ago is still in the business. No, he is not in front or behind the cameras, but he holds "talent searches." His part of the country is known for a lot of the tween shows they film and manufactured singing groups. He likes to find very very poor parents who are out of work or drug addicted with children/tweens who are attractive. He then introduces them to producers of television and music and the exploitation occurs. The parents are happy for the money and stay out of the way. Our former tween actor takes a cut of every connection he makes.
Angus T Jones
ReplyDeleteDrake Bell?
ReplyDeleteMy guess as well... ugh how sickening
DeleteNope. I know his gf, JV and he’s all into his rockabilly band. Or at Disneyland.
DeleteSomeone from Jamie Lynn Spears’ show.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it is Angus T Jones due to his disdain for what he refers to as the filth that is Two and a Half Men, also isn't he now a staunch Christian? Drake Bell seems to have had continuous work... was there a scandal with his show? I was also thinking of a connection to Zoey 101 because Jamie Lynn's pregnancy was a huge deal. What other shows had scandals a decade ago?
ReplyDeleteDrake Bell allegedly assaulted by Brian Peck while Brian was acting coach.
Deletematt underwood
ReplyDeleteorlando. florida. ugh.
ReplyDeleteI think Angus T Jones is a good guess. He and Diddy's son started an entertainment company called Tonight. And he isn't heavily involved with religion anymore, from what he said.
ReplyDelete“Over the last three years I’ve been involved with various faith-based organizations,” says Jones. “Right now, I’m stepping away from the organizational business-model programs. I’m interested in seeing where I go without an organization putting a stamp of approval on if I’m good or bad or whatever.”

Does "tween actor" refer to an actor of a certain age? What age is classified as a tween actor?
ReplyDelete@serenitt About 9-12 & age person would when they were on a TV show rocked by scandal. Would be late teens early 20s now according to Enty's blind.
DeleteNo clue who, haven't watched similar shows almost 20 years.
Also what type of exploitation is this referring to? Hoping not what jumps to mind first!
ReplyDeletethe term was coined to mean middle-schoolish, not a child, pre-teen, but it seems like pretty much all teen actors and shows these days fall under the category of "tween".
ReplyDeleteI thought the term was directed at the audience's age group and not specifically the actors.
ReplyDeletehm, that sounds right, robert, though i know the term came into popular use re shopping/toys/clothing when i was raising my kids in the 90's.
ReplyDeleteAs far as not working since Two and a Half Men, he did an episode of Louis C.K.'s Horace and Pete in 2016...
ReplyDeleteI remember tween being used for 10-12 year olds (between child and teen), which would, again, fit Angus, who was 10 when the show started.
ReplyDeleteThanks @just sayin' and I'm not from America so could you please educate me on what age is middle school? I considered that too @.robert, that's why I am confused as to whether it refers to the age of the actor or the audience of the show?
ReplyDelete@serenity depends on the state & which grades are in middle school. Midwest & east coast usually 7-8 grade, so 11-13? West coast usually 6-8 grades so more tween aged between 10-13.
DeleteBut then I haven't been in school for 10+ years so I could be wrong.
@.robert the term tween just means an age group, 9-12 afaik.
“This former A list tween actor who has not worked since a huge scandal rocked the show almost a decade ago...”
ReplyDeleteTwo and a Half Men ran until 2 years ago. While its Charlie Sheen rager scandal did occur about 7 years ago this falls under the Enty usual rounding up “any event 5-9 years ago = almost a decade ago”, Angus has obviously worked up until the show’s final season.
Itttt - good point.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Matthew Underwood from Zoey 101 - cancelled when jamie lynn got pregnant?
+1 for Matthew Underwood. He’s gotten a DUI or two since then as well. And during one of them, wasn’t he caught with weed and an underage girl?
ReplyDeleteTween is pre-teen but I think Enty frequently uses it for transitioning between teen and adult
ReplyDeleteWho ever they are they are fucking disgusting
ReplyDelete@Serenity Yes, the exploitation is EXACTLY what you think it is...and worse.
ReplyDeleteThis would make an awesome script for a Paul Morrissey movie with Joe Dallesandro playing Matthew Underwood.
ReplyDelete@serenity middle school would be equilvalent to 6th class - first year students age. Hope that helps :)
ReplyDeleteBoth Sean Flynn and Matthew Underwood from Zoey 101 are now doing talent spotting for kids in Florida and LA: https://www.istarlosangeles.co/celebs-more
ReplyDeleteSean Flynn's not working a lot, but Matthew Underwood's not doing anything.
While I like the Matt Underwood guess, I would have never thought him to be former A list. Zoey 101 was popular , but he didn't really seem to benefit from it as much.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I have nothing else to suggest.
Matt Underwood used to hang out at my local mall when I was 15 and asked for my friends number after we asked for a picture with him. This was 2010... My money is on him.
ReplyDeleteAt some point you realize it really is an industry. It's not just the occasional predator hanging out at the park with candy (though that exists too). It's an industry. It has suppliers, customers, shippers, salesmen, purchasing agents, investors -- everything except business cards. Hell, maybe they have those too.
ReplyDeleteDoubt its Drake Bell. Nickelodon stuff hasn't been talked about until recently. Also Drake Bell has often been a joke of ridicule due to his poor debt.
