There might end up being a show for this fashion line at NYFW but the creator is going to have a tough time getting any celebrity to show up for the show. It wouldn't shock anyone if they canceled the show a day or two before it is set to happen.
Georgina Chapman is a strikingly beautiful and creative woman with an extensive art background. She comes from a wealthy English family. How she ended up with Harvey is beyond me, but without her class he would have never risen to the heights he did. That's my personal take, perhaps not yours. Her dresses have always delighted me with their fairy-tale quality and lavishness. I do hope she does not fall by the wayside professionally because of this. Did she know he was carrying on like he was? Of course. She had the beautiful homes, the kids, the career, and foreign trips and Cannes Yachts. She probably preferred he mess with anyone but her as time went on. Everyone is going to suffer on this one.
Of course she knew he was trading movie parts for body parts, but I doubt she knew he was engaging in out-and-out rape. Slimy deals are so endemic to H'wood, that there was no reason to suspect him of needing or using physical force.
Is she persona non grata because she's associated with toxic Harvey, or because she bolted to Huma's side instead of doing the "supportive wife at his side" thing?
cail corishev - huma stuck by weiner for a long time, like hillary did with bill, until the underage stuff came out. that and rape aren't acceptable reasons for a wife to stay by a man's side. she knew what he was doing and stayed with him until the criminal behavior was revealed.
If Harvey Weinstein was forcing actresses to wear Marchesa, I can completely understand them not wanting to wear it by choice now. It's a company that was built on Weinstein's dime and promoted by his victims.
Meghan McCain will probably have to skip the fashion week due to her father's illness/death. Her breakdown with Joe Biden was just heartbreaking to watch. I cried for an hour.
Marchesa is some of the ugliest, tackiest shit out there, and I won't miss it one bit if it bites the dust. But while I fully believe Georgina knew Harvey was up to something, I doubt she knew to what extent, and besides, I don't like blaming her for her husband's actions. I mostly just feel bad for the extremely tricky position she's been put in.
@Boo, I see what you’re saying but the timeline doesn’t support the idea that he rose b/c of her. They dated & married around 2004? HW had been an A list producer by the early 90’s. Some have said that he was at his peak in the mid 2000’s. He was able to form TWC after Disney pushed him out & didn’t miss a beat. She is pretty & some of her dresses work well on the red carpet. However, she wouldn’t have been able to own & run her own label at such a young age without his backing.
I'm curious how much culpability all of you place on Georgina for Harvey's misgivings. surely she knew so I don't feel that's up for debate. but her not previously divorcing or walking away ,doesn't that somehow signal her approval? what do you do if you are her in this scenario? you ride the wave or dock the ship? I don't feel she should get a free pass in this. is she left being labeled an unknowing moron or a beast? what's lesser of the evil?
@Sandy: Good point; seems it's been that way since the sands of time. She did what she had to do to get ahead, maybe. If the tables were turned we might be saying "Boy, sure took guts to get to the top." etc. Perhaps she'll return to her country of origin for a few years then return. I think her clothes are stunnnning.

I took a look at Georgina's dresses and at least half were gorgeous. few bombs but I would say 60% beautiful. too bad she is obvious shitty person and I hope she is as done as he is

Harvey is trying to whitewash his image, and I get the sense that some in the industry aren't happy that they had to condemn him to look good for the public. If they're quietly on his side, they might be angry at his wife for not backing him. I dunno, hence my question.
Harvey was by all accounts an abrasive bully that threatened and intimidated both men and women into doing his bidding, including forcing actresses to wear Marchesa designs on the red carpet rather than having the freedom to choose a dress of their own liking on such an important night. Whether or not Georgina knew about the rapes, she knew who she married and she was willing to be his accomplice in order to further her own ambitions. She didn't just look the other way, she enabled this vulgar, abusive creature because she too was profiting from his despicable tactics. She is beautiful but certainly not an admirable person in any other respect.
