This one named singer is headed out on a big tour in a supporting role. There is no way, in her current condition though that she can make it through a tour. Within a couple of weeks she will have to quit unless something seriously changes in her life.
kesha
ReplyDeleteKesha?
ReplyDeleteShe is touring with Macklemore
So sad to hear this, if it's Kesha. Was hoping she was on the mend, even though her healing process will be a long one.
ReplyDeleteYep, Kesha.
ReplyDeleteI agree @Khaleesi.

ReplyDeleteI have a hard time mustering the sympathy for her a lot of people seem to have. She seems like a heavy partier who has no interest in sobriety, and also to have tried to use the court system (and create allegations of abuse) to get out of a legally binding contract.
ReplyDeleteCan someone help me understand why we are all supposed to feel sorry for her?
Fergie is a crackwhore
ReplyDeleteWell, for one, @Moose, she alleges Dr. Luke raped her, among many other things, and Kelly Clarkson backs up those claims in detailing her own experiences in working with him (she doesn't allege that he raped her).
ReplyDeleteThe judge threw out the rape claims, saying they weren't detailed enough to consider and that the statute of limitations had long since passed. Why do you think she's drinking so heavily?
Here's a well-written piece on her:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2016/10/30/magazine/kesha-lawsuit-dr-luke.html
TL;DR - Dr. Luke was a huge dick to her and screwed her over.
Kesha, and Fergie since she was mentioned, both have dealt with being literally fucked by the industry. There is no way you go through what they've been through and not end up with some drug/alcohol/pill habit.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great if they both managed to kick their habits and move on. But sometimes it isn't so easy when you've been mentally screwed up for so long.
@khaleesi: So he's a di.ck. From what we've heard, so are a lot of folks in the entertainment industry. Yea, I read what Clarkson said, and I don't doubt he's a jerk. That has nothing to do with rape allegations - which he says are false, and being used as a tool for contract negotiations.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand how you can just say her heavy drinking is due to the rape allegations - she's been an alcoholic for most of her adult life, if Enty and the stories reported about her are correct.
I'm not trying to slight this story - if he did rape her, then he deserves damnation and all bad things. But we sometimes are way too willing to accept allegations without proof, and given her history of alcohol and drug abuse, and what has come out of the court suits so far (seems like he has won just about everything that's been litigated so far in preliminary motions), I'm struggling with sympathizing with her. And I say this even though I am a huge Ben Folds fan, who I also know has been incredibly supportive of her.
To add to Khaleesi's comment Pink refuses to work with him as well as Katy Perry who both have not had good things to say about their work experience with him. If so many women are uncomfortable and refuse to work with him, then I feel that gives credit to Kesha's claims. Also based off of a lot of these blind items the entertainment industry is a fucked up dark place. This breaks my heart though because I'm obsessed with her album and thought it was such a triumphant album and I so desperately want to see her on tour since I missed my chance with her solo tour.
ReplyDeleteAnd please don't take my questioning her claims as any slight to the seriousness of this issue and the bravery of so many women (and men) who have come forward. I just, for some reason, do not feel it with her. And she's not having any luck in court so far it seems (which could be for any number of reasons, I admit).
ReplyDeleteMoose, I hear you. I think it's possible to be horrified by sexual abuse in general and still take a skeptical approach to specific cases. In fact, I think it's healthy.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not overwhelmed by Keisha's voice or talent - although to be fair, I mostly know her through her big hits like "Tik Tok" and "Timber" as well as her appearance on "Suite Life on Deck", which was streamed nonstop in my home for awhile. I haven't listened to all of her work.
Kesha is a good guess. It`s realy sad, her last album was realy good. The girl has a voice. It`s a real shame she got involved with that asshole. I don`t know what realy happend there, can`t say for sure, but I think it was realy BAD no matter what.
ReplyDeleteThere`s a reason so many ppl don`t want to work with him. Mainly the women.
Another Amy Winehouse in the making. She was forced back onto the treadmill by her people, too, far, far too early, and she killed herself. If they had left Amy alone for a couple years, she could have slowly made her way back, but no, there was money on the table, and some people will do anything for a dollar. I'd bet this is the same for this woman - I don't know anything about her, but I know how the music industry is, and money is always more important. Prop her up, have Dr. Feelgood on hand to inject her with something to make it onto the stage, who cares if she burns out later? We need to make that money. And this one will fall off, too, and everyone will stand around lamenting "How could this happen?", while certain people check their bank balances and look for the next one.
ReplyDeleteNo Kesha!! We are all rooting for a big comeback from you! Please take care of yourself and get some help if this is you!!
ReplyDeleteMoose, appreciate your follow-up comments but your initial one did read like you were blaming her and she was making up fake claims to get out a contract. This Dr. Luke was a scumbag and I consider her to be extremely brave to do what she did. Unfortunately the timing wasn't right so she didn't get as much support as she could've like everyone is doing for Weinstein's victims.
Kesha deserves a good comeback, so again (if this is her), we want her healthy and off the drugs and/or alcohol!
