  5. Damn. I was hoping it was Mario Batali and Goop. They both deserve to have all the grief they can get heaped upon them.

  6. Tierney, you are incredibly in-the-know about the chef business. No one else would have guessed Mario and the Goopster. They were, at one time, inseparable friends. Now not so much. Great guess.

  7. As a chef who is tired if old school misogyny in the industry, let them all burn.

  8. Mario Batali was born in the US.

  9. I'd be surprised if it were Ramsey. There's no way he can end up cash poor...he's got like 30 shows on Fox. I'd believe it more if it were an investment from a celeb friend that went south rather than a 'loan.'

  10. Oops. Ivy, you're right. Mario was born here, right? Wishful thinking!

  11. GR - Jamie makes money... here in Canuckland he sells everything at Thrifty’s. Well don’t know how much he makes off of that but have a hard time imagining him owing anyone with his name all over everything.

  12. Just for the record, Jamie Oliver is worth more than twice what Gordon Ramsay is, and he's stupid rich. Which isn't to say that this couldn't be either of them, but it does seem somewhat doubtful.

  13. Gordon has had money problems in the past. & Mario & Gwyneth are both born in the US

  14. Speaking of AMERICAN chefs in trouble, both Cat Cora and Guy Fieri closed their restaurants this week here in Manhattan. Cat will tell you: don't ever go in business with a friend!

    1. Seems right - don’t think Ramsey’s restaurants ever took off in the US - but he has like 5 shows on Fox (Hells kitchen, masterchef, masterchef junior, used to have a restaurant and hotel makeover show, and I thought he was bringing f word to US), and I know some in the UK too. And he produces them too. So did he just spend way more than he made? Or are the restaurants losing so much the TV shows can’t cover?
