Went to Vegas once. Walked into the casino with $200 in my pocket. Won $100 on a slot machine. Walked out of the casino with $0 in my pocket. That's about the extent of my gambling career.
yes! finally something I know the answer to. I play blackjack. most I ever won was $1200 and I immediately went out and bought a pair of just below the knee black fxck me boots! (always wanted pair of those) left them at my sister's and she sold them on ebay (sad face) most I ever lost? entire paycheck. I remember driving back from casino eating the remainder of the bag of peanuts I purchased on my way out. ..silently chuckling that I worked entire week for bag of peanuts
haven't been back to casino in years, they all deal from a shoe now
I switched from single game betting on football to a weekly pool and fantasy football. If I win on either of those, I use the money to stake my gambling on playoffs and Super Bowl box pools. I between betting on the game and a block pool, last time Giants beat the Patriots, I won about $1750.
Most profit I ever left a casino with was like $250.
I watched a show on gambling on the Travel Channel once. Talked about the goal of video poker is to get a royal flush. I hadn't played it and did not know that. Went to Vegas a few months later, played video poker. Held an ace of hearts and a jack of hearts. Hit the royal flush and won $4,000. That being said, I'm still down.
I used to gamble a couple times a year but got tired of being depressed every time I left a casino. Went to local casinos twice over the summer and losing every penny I took with me broke me of the gambling bug. I still like Vegas even though I don't gamble anymore.
Slots when I go to Atlantic City or Vegas. I'll go with a set amount of money and then not hit any ATM's while I'm there. The most I won was $1000 on a dollar slot in Vegas. I think I spent under 5 bucks, so it was pretty cool.
I don't mind some penny ante poker now and then, but even if I wanted to gamble more I've never had the money that I could afford to lose much. And I never go to casinos -- having a casino license is like having a license to steal from stupid people.
I play cribbage competitively -- there's a national ranking system, local clubs that meet weekly, and 3-4 tournaments every weekend somewhere in the US. It's gambling in the same way poker is -- luck plays a role, but over time, the skilled player will win more money.
My biggest win was $7000, several years ago. I played a tournament this weekend and won $750. Overall, my hobby pays for itself (even after accounting for travel expenses). I won't make a living at it, but it lets me travel all over the US. How many hobbies pay for themselves?
Only sometimes at the small time parlors near my hometown, never been a very big fan. It's the smoke that keeps me away, and when I go to larger casinos I just end up watching poker on the flat screens :B
I live in Las Vegas. And, I hardly ever gamble. (I find it boring.)
The most I ever won? $150 on slot machines way back when in the 90's.
Since meeting my retired gaming executive friend/golf buddy, he's filled me in on lots of stories about want to be rich gamblers. As a former casino owner, he said: The only way to make money gambling is to own the casino!
I don't gamble at all as I am a table games dealer at a local casino. I will tell you that half of the dealers are gambling addicts and the other half are like me - don't gamble. It's so funny when people ask me to share some stories about my full time job (flight attendant) I tell them my better stories are from my part time job - dealing!
No, but I tend to get addicted to playing video games (I'm just wired that way—even for things like Tetris and a similar fluorescent puzzle game they had on PSP). So I know better than to start a possibly-destructive habit. It's called an "addictive personality", read NatGeo magazine September 2017. You don't want to ever try gambling when you have that!
I buy lottery tickets every now and again, and about three times a year I'll go to a casino and play the slots for an hour. It's a good night if I don't lose my whole budget. :) I won less than $250 once; can't remember the exact amount, but that's the most. I also buy tickets for lotteries that support causes. I could win a million dollar house (and sell it)! But I never win anything on those. I try to tell myself that's not why I buy, but it totally is. *L*
Been betting on college football since discovering one of my frat bros in college was a part time bookie. Currently its typically no more than $200-$300 a wknd. My current bookie has an app. How cool is that!
Keep your receipts. My dad won a $12,000 jackpot in slots, and then died before the end of that year. My mom had to pay taxes on it because he didn't keep track of his losses, which were at least $10,000 during the same year.
Not really. I used to play a fair amount of blackjack and won just over $500 a few times.

ReplyDeleteWolfie, Anderson and Don wanted to come over for a night of cards, but I couldn't deal with it.
ReplyDeleteOh so the Lemmon you deal with is Don. For some reason I keep thinking it's Jack Lemmon.

ReplyDeleteYes. Slots mostly.
ReplyDeleteHit for $5400.00 on $1.50 bet on 4th of July.
The biggest win before that was about $2200.
Have hit over $1K several times.
