Most affairs just end marriages. Some like Meg Ryan's end careers. This affair has the potential to end two careers and one of them is not even involved in the affair but the two work so closely together that no one would be able to figure out which one they were not trying to hire. Apparently the affair is red hot.

Natalie has no career, Savannah was last seen crying her eyes out because her side piece got fired. The person who secured her job no less

DeleteWhat was meg ryan’s affair?
ReplyDeleteRyan was cast in the action thriller Proof of Life and hooked up with Russell Crowe.

ReplyDeleteMaybe because Meg Ryan's career was based on being that really likeable, sweet, girl-next-door type (that's how I remember her, anyway), which doesn't mesh well with adultery?
ReplyDeleteI have never understood the Matt/Savannah dynamic. Something has always seemed off about them. NBC seemed to position her as the cutsie foil to him, but she is more educated than he is and was formerly a lawyer. They are weird to me.
ReplyDeleteDid Meg's career end because of the affair and it contradicting her public America's Sweetheart' image, or because she had some very bad plastic surgery on her lips? Or was it because the kind of light rom-com movies she excelled in had simply gone a bit out of fashion? Nobody's career lasts forever.
ReplyDeleteI honestly think its a bit rich for people to care about her having an affair if that was the case. It Hollywood terms it makes her practically normal and even in the 90s we knew how much worse many of them behaved. Meg was popular because of what she did in movies, not outside them.
I think for Meg it was the affair (even though Quaid is a pig and cheated on her left and right) and the way she went about it - they didn't do anything to hide it, and that definitely goes against the girl next door sweetheart everyone labeled her as, coupled with the TerRIBLE plastic surgery. So she's not america's sweetheart anymore but america's homewrecker and the cute face is now comparable to Donatella Versace's. PASS
ReplyDeleteShe had a steamy affair with russell crowe, which probably makes her nauseaed now. She thought it was going somewhere, he did not. As soon as film over, dropped her like yesterdays trash.
Delete@Rinky. I think it was a combination of all three. I think the affair hurt her the most because it clashed with her image to the public. Hollywood is all about selling a false reality to middle America, the ones who actually buy the movie tickets. Once the reality cracks, they abandon you even if they themselves behave worse than you. Remember that Eddie Cibrian got fired from his gig after his affair with Leann Rhimes came out. Angelina Jolie already had a bad girl image so all the crap she pulled never hurt her plus she was media savvy and it is said that she was the one who put out the claim that Aniston(a claim that Aniston denied) didn't want to give Brad a family thus softening the public backlash. Angie also initially lied about when the affair started.
ReplyDeleteLooked like Savannah was trying not to burst out laughing when she announced Matt's firing on the Today Show this morning. It was pretty funny watching her.
ReplyDeleteAnd if Aniston was someone who wanted kids, she would have had them by now, with Brad, with a boyfriend, with Justin, on her own, adoption, surrogacy or the oldfashioned way. No one needed to plant any stories there, it seems self evident.
@Do Tell, I agree. Despite the words she was speaking, Guthrie didn't seem upset.
ReplyDeleteJust watched Savannah Guthrie giving her commentary. She made a big Freudian slip when she said "these revelations" and not "these allegations." That implies she knew about his behavior and kept it secret, perhaps for years.
ReplyDeleteIf it was a surprise, I think she'd've said "these allegations." As in, suddenly, "someone is making allegations."
Or am I reading too much into this?
@Do Tell, if Jennifer Aniston wanted to have kids right now, I'd be glad to give it the old college try.
ReplyDelete@Mad Hominem - There are a few pieces about this on Blind Gossip. She knew.
ReplyDeleteWhat did it say? I just went to BG and got a message saying the site has been taken offline...makes no sense with everything going on.
DeleteNm, just checked Twitter they just have so many hits it's crashing the site!
DeleteThey alllllllll knew in every single case. The only reason the men are being fired left and right is because it became public info. Every company was happy to keep it quiet as long as the celeb performs, but once it’s public they act all high and mighty and only then enforce the rules.
ReplyDeleteSo Anniston doesn't want kids, so sick of hearing about that. I don't have kids, my choice, I'm happy as a clam. Why do people pick on people who choose to not have a kid? Boggles the mind. Someone has to drop the footprint on this planet while others breed like rabbits as if its some contest.
ReplyDeleteKnow Natalie's family, this has been some good fodder for neighborhood gossip
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone looked at Savannah's baby and said. "Meh, it looks a little Lauerish."
