Blind Item #7 - AMA
One of the biggest male groups in K-pop has two members who are closeted. Well, they could have more than two, but these two were trying to stay hidden in corners this weekend at a bar as they canoodled with their respective American boyfriends.
BTS
ReplyDeleteHmm, tough one. There were so many K-pop groups at the AMA. I don't think Slipknot was there so I am going to go with The Chainsmokers
ReplyDeleteThose two aren't K-pop unless you were saying they are the boyfriends.

ReplyDeleteB TS , but if they are making out in public,it's a glass closet.
ReplyDeleteK-Pop and J-Pop almost make Hollywood look squeaky clean. Pushing right past the rampant pedophilia, it's hard to imagine why anyone wants to be involved with it even from a business point of view. The money is utter shit for most the young 'stars' - no better than working a convenience store job much of the time, and they're worked like slaves. It's not even smoke and mirrors witb that lot - the girls and boys are expected to live lives devoid of any romantic personal relationships to embody the pathetic fantasies of their virgin stalker-fans who think they're in relationships with them. If they get caught, they have to lose face on TV, wailing their apologies or shaving their fucking heads like some medieval penance.
ReplyDeleteThe allure of K-pop is totally lost on me.
ReplyDeleteSame, @roxy.
ReplyDeleteHas to be bts...but is this surprising? Anyone who grew up in choirs knows that out of a group of 7-8 male singers, 2-3 are bound to be into dudes.. also lol at mainstream America just figuring out that k-pop is a thing 😂
ReplyDeleteok, I never heard any BTS so I just watched a youtube of the AMA performance...
ReplyDeleteWTF
I can't even tell if this is in english or not. Also, is this what we consider trendy music now? I'll pass. Give me Allman. Give me Foo. Give me people who play their own instruments....
Just, no.
I saw a photo of that group BTS and literally said out loud, "so are they all closeted, or what?"
ReplyDelete@LizOz Considering I've been around Kpop since the 90s, to me it's come and gone. The fact that anyone, much less mainstream America thinks it's a thing at all is utterly hilarious.
ReplyDeleteAs a musician, I worked with Lee Hyori right after she split with Fin.K.L. and at that point I thought Kpop was at it's peak and starting to decline.
Oh very cool @eff yiew! It's just funny that a band could be as famous as one direction everywhere else for years before most Americans are even aware... I've been a recreational listener for a while but started with Chinese pop when we lived in Taiwan in the 90s. To a casual listener, the East Asian music industry (over generalizing, I know) seems to have changed radically since then!!

Delete@Lurky, that was funny as Hell! I spit my tea out, LOL. Thanks for the laugh, I needed it.
ReplyDeleteI'm half Japanese and Swedish, my mother who is in her 80s loves KPOP. It's so embarrassing, LOL.
ReplyDeleteShe had a major thing for RAIN a few years back, now I couldn't tell you who she's into. They're all the same to me. Her car key chain is of RAIN. I actually like him though, he's a funny comedic actor.
BlissBoo, 3 of my closest friends are Japanese/Swedish! Not sure if their mom loves K-Pop, but she loves her some Korean Soaps!! Lol
DeleteZ Z Zico... (not really, but it would be a nice blind)
ReplyDeleteHas to be BTS members since they are in the states as a group doing promos. I agree K-Pop isn't what it was, but in America it's new to a lot of young people so it's getting a resurgence. The band members appearance is just for show. Their fans don't see it as gay, they see it as cute/pretty. (They don't associate makeup with sexuality-at least not in this regard).
I'm all for outing pedos and molesters, etc. But not outing someone sexually. the Travolta/Spacey stuff "was" just gossip, not someone with proof who wanted to be spiteful. At least before 2016/17. It was inside jokes that anyone knew to be true is disgusting for laughing at. But regular people like me just assumed it was joking around, with a hint of truth. But the BTS aren't running around molesting underage fans or raping people (that I know of), so outing them would be wrong. (That being said, if you look past the makeup and costumes, and ignore what American's might consider stereotypical straight behavior, it's not that hard to figure out. Also, they have 7 members, so 2/7 being gay isn't a wild ratio. If anything it's a significantly higher ratio of gay/"straight" men in American music. (I'm tired and don't have the visual strength to proof read, so tldr: 2 gay members, not that there's anything wrong with that, is no where near shocking compared to the number of gay singers in the USA (in or out)
Except one none of the members even speak english so what kind of bullshit lmao
