Your Turn

Renee Zellweger has been cast to play Judy Garland over the last few months of Judy's life. Who would you have picked for the role?

  1. Yesterday, a clown held open a door for it. I thought that was a very kind jester.

  2. And as a JG fan that is HORRRRRRIBLE casting unless Renee's audition stunned the hell out of producers, I just don't see it!

  3. Not Renee for sure. I will give more thought to finding a young, cute dark haired girl to grow up and play a drug ravaged middle aged woman.

Anne Hathaway looks a lot like Judy Garland

  9. just sayin' - I like Elizabeth Perkins for this.

Maybe Michelle Williams, but she already did Marilyn Monroe.

  10. I think Renee MIGHT do great, bc she is a good actress, and she was very good in CHicago..if only she wouldn't do do that pouty mouth. Otherwise , Anna hathaway. The best would have been a young Liza Minnelli...but i don't see someone like this..maybe someone from Teathre?

  12. Hathaway and Portman are both in their mid-30s - if this is the last few months of Garland's life, she was 46-7, and looked near 60. Hathaway would be a great choice to play a younger Garland, but I don't see her playing her in her final days.

  14. Judy looked rough as hell the last 1/3rd of her life: http://i0.heartyhosting.com/www.nationalenquirer.com/wp-content/uploads/old_neq/article_images/judy_stry_2.jpg?resize=480%2C600

    I would use Tara Reid.

  15. Renee would be good, she'll nail the fragility perfectly though Judy Davis would be brilliant.

  16. Meryl Streep tosee if she can really do anything
Toni Collette for a realistic match
Viola Davis for a totally mind bending twist.

  17. A junkie whose life of vice showed after she was 30? Lilo is my choice, she has more experience in looking rough way before 30, though.

  18. Someone who can actually sing. If you don't have the pipes, you aren't going to be believable no matter what type of makeup they slap on you.

  19. Liza! If the lighting was right, it would work.

  20. Agree with Judy Davis. She played Garland and did a great job.

  21. The last few months of her life?? Zellwegger looks much too young. Although she was only 47 or so when she died they need to find a 60 yo.

  22. Gaga could do it, she has the voice and inflections. She’s a lot younger but could be roughed up a little to play the part.

  23. i agree, judy davis has the chops for this role.

  24. Sheridan Smith. She can do her own singing.

  25. Judy Davis, obviously

  26. Appearance has little to do with it, hair and eye color is easy to change and they can alter appearance so much now with computer effects (every single film & TV actor is digitally enhanced now- see this article: http://mashable.com/2014/12/01/hollywood-secret-beauty-procedure/#w586MiERfmqM

so it really boils down to acting talent and Renee has that in spades.
