Tom Petty Has Died



Tom Petty died Monday after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital, according to Tony Dimitriades, longtime manager of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Dimitriades confirmed Petty's death on behalf of the performer's family.

He was 66.

"He suffered cardiac arrest at his home in Malibu in the early hours of this morning and was taken to UCLA Medical Center but could not be revived. He died peacefully at 8:40pm PT surrounded by family, his bandmates and friends," Dimitriades said in a statement.

    A genuine nice guy who stood up to the recording industry, he will truly be missed.

  6. A true classic talent who provided many happy listening hours to my friends and I. And who can forget ( other than Travelling Wilburys of course) his "drop ins" on The Garry Shandling Show". Tom you are missed but thanks for your gifts to millions! RIP. One of a kind!
