Blind Items Revealed #2

August 2, 2017

Unlike his Academy Award winning co-star, this foreign born A- list dual threat actor is actually out promoting their new movie using every trick he can to get people to attend this first weekend because they sure won’t attend the second weekend. The Academy Award winner is just going through the motions and doing as little as possible.

Idris Elba/Matthew McConaughey

All he has ever done in anything he's been in is stand around and look serious.

He's handsome and photogenic, but he's not a fucking star.

If they fucked up the Dark Tower by casting Idris as Roland then they will have wasted a lot of money and ruined a fantastic story. Why did they have to take such a risk casting Idris?

Making a movie out of such difficult (but awesome) material is already a risk. Clint Eastwood was clearly who Stephen King had in mind when he was writing the story and having Clint be so old would actually work. If you wanted somebody younger, Chris Pine plays a good cowboy.

FFS I should be a casting director - I like coke and I could get used to the casting couch situation.

McConaughey's shooting a movie in Mauritius and had to fly in for the premiere and has to fly back (see his wife's Instagram). I've seen both of them interviewed dozens of times though so this is BS. McConaughey was great on Stephen Colbert.

I saw The Dark Tower and it's not that bad - better than Suicide Squad or Doctor Strange.

Agree! Just started watching Luther on Netflix and it's exactly like that. Pure star quality and impossible not to cheer him on.

Is there some reason he hasn't had a bigger movie yet?

this is a great role for Elba. Sony screwed the movie up (the director's an arthouse Danish director and maybe not a good fit for an action flick) but there's still a good chance there will be sequels and a TV show continuing The Dark Tower.

This horseshit. I watch talk shows and I have seen McConaughey on several promoting film but haven't seen Elba on one so don't know what type of promoting you're talking about.

You just stated that Idris Elba is handsome and photogenic. If you think he cannot act and/or is not charismatic, please go watch a few episodes of The Wire. The man is amazing and should absolutely be a star.

Problem is: there are a lot of great actors in their 40s and very, very few decent roles, certainly not enough to go around. I loathe Marvel and DC and those are pretty much the only movies going - and none of them require any acting or help the careers of the actors who are in them.

I've given up on current films. They all seem to be targeted at 14 year old boys. Explosions, car chases, push a generic pretty girl up against a wall, repeat. Zzzzz

As a fan of The Dark Tower books i was pleasantly surprised how they worked the script...especially leaving it open to sequels and a tv show- most likely a streaming service. Idris is awesome. Look forward to the next incarnation looking to "The Drawing of Three" book. MM did very well too.

I read in THR that a sequel(s) and a tv show are most likely going to occur.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted.

It's certainly true. Ageism is a rampant obstacle for women and men in Hollywood. (Of course, it's really a problem in all U. S. business fields, but this is a gossip site, so ...)

Add Luther to the list. So good.
