While in town this week, this A-/B+ list singer/songwriter/producer hooked up with a guy. This is something I don't think his long time A- list actress girlfriend knows anything about. She stayed back home.
Hope if he 'hooked up' and doesn't intend to tell his girlfriend that he used protection. It's not fair for a person to not have the power of knowledge over matters that affect one's body. Today's rant brought to you by a friend of mine who found out the hard way about her SO's infidelity after contracting genital herpes :(
That happened to me too - got it from my now ex-fiance. He'd been cheating on me with women all over the country (UK) while I was at work (I worked late shifts.) I only realised after I'd ended the relationship ( he was abusive). I had to call the police to get him out of my flat. He got the coach to his other girlfriend who wanted to marry him and didn't believe me. I think he just wanted to stay in the country (he's American from Virginia originally.) When I got myself checked out at the clinic and was told I had herpes, I was devastated and was depressed for a long time. I've never been promiscuous but unfortunately that is the stigma, so I don't see myself having another relationship ever, even thought I haven't had outbreaks for over 3 years now. Sorry for the long post.
After reading here in a comment that 1 out of 6 has it in USA (in Spain 10-15% have it) I googled about it and I found this about a woman who got herpes and how she learn to deal with it. It's quite amazing her positivity.
I'm assuming that being herpes that common now it will spread even more rapidly (the chances of sleeping with someone with herpes are much higher). At one point (and we are close to that) it will be the new normal. And the stigma will vanish. Dating sites for people with STDs are proliferating so much that there are Top 10 lists. It is about to become the new normal.

ReplyDeleteHe's openly bi so he fits. He's friends with Swift so he can't be all straight now can he?
ReplyDeleteYou can contract genital herpes despite using condoms. One of the wonders of the gift that keeps on giving.

You will be with someone again. You'd be surprised how many people respect being told up front and will still have a relationship with you.
