Your Turn

How many graduations did you have during your school years? I feel like there is a graduation for every grade.

The only ones I remember were high school and college. That was long ago, before everybody got a celebration.

An informal one at the end of Jr. High, then high school & college (Bachelor's). I skipped graduation for my Master's.

  4. Through all of my schooling, we had 1 graduation ceremony for high school seniors, it was a big deal.
In my opinion (and in some observations) all of these ceremonies in most of today's schools can make a high school graduation seem not very important. Kids leaving middle school actually could say "I graduated" (which they did - in their most recent celebration), and in their young minds feel as accomplished as a graduate of high school, only because they've been celebrated as such.

At the end of school (14 y/o), our teachers gave us some soda and candy.

At the end of high school (18 y/o), we had to go to some kind of party where a crappy local dj put some music, we were given a plaque, and had soda, booze (which I did not drink because the teachers knew my parents and I did not want them to know), and chips and some other junk food. I ended up totally shitfaced when I left that crap and went boozing in the town.

I did not go to the university one because I disliked my classmates.

I do not know if any of those counts as a graduation.

Kindergarten and high school. I don't know why it seems that some schools do it in every grade, which I think it loses luster. It's like yay little Timmy graduated from third grade, lets have a party. My thinking is well damn little Timmy should have passed third grade afteall it's third effin grade.

Oh for the love of pork chops and applesauce, what's a hefty girl with an incredible pair of tatas and dirt on everyone who's ever uttered the words "Breaking News" supposed to do with a Your Turn like this. You need to try harder, Senor Enty.

  14. We weren't allowed to have a dance in Grade 6, as I recall, but we did have a party. Then Grade 9 (junior high), then Grade 12. Then college.
