Blind Item #8
This A- list mostly movie actor is an Academy Award winner. He is also dying from a rare disease he has lived with for decades but has started to rapidly progress. He is still fairly young and has been acting since he was a teen.

Adrien Brody?
ReplyDeleteJared Leto? Christian Bale?
ReplyDeleteMichael J. Fox
ReplyDeleteNo Academy Award
ReplyDeleteChristian Bale
ReplyDeleteCould also be Nic cage
ReplyDeleteSean Penn ? 57 isn't old.
ReplyDeleteWas Daniel Day Lewis a teen actor? Could be why he is retiring.
ReplyDeleteHe has five Emmys and that's an Academy Award.
ReplyDeleteHuh. DDL's first role, according to IMDb, was as a 'child vandal' (uncredited) in 1971's 'Sunday Bloody Sunday'
ReplyDeleteHe would have been 14.
Ryan O'Neil is a bit up there but he has been living with Leukemia for a while...
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think DDL would be listed as 'A-'
ReplyDeleteHe's A+ all the way
Not a rare disease.
ReplyDeletePlease not Christian Bale! He's currently filming something so I hope that's a good sign.
ReplyDeleteCould Jeff Bridges be considered "still fairly young"? Otherwise I went through all the Oscar winners for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, only Bale and Di Caprio correspond as former child actors and Enty didn't say foreign born (for Bale) and Di Caprio's probably A+.
ReplyDeleteWhen they say Academy Award on this site, they mean the Oscar. Nothing else.
ReplyDeleteDepends on the type.
ReplyDeleteI just thought it might be Brad Pitt. Maybe that's why he lost so much weight? He was on the tv show Dallas when he was a kid. Makes sense. Oh Dear...
ReplyDeleteHe is the type that will live to be a hundred. Karma always misses the worst. (And i am
ReplyDeleteAfraid to wish it on him and have the karma hit me lol)
Good guess. I thought it was odd that he actually made
ReplyDeleteAn announcement to retire.
"dying from a rare disease" sounds extremely sad...
ReplyDeleteP.S.i wish this person just the best...
I imagine sean penn has the Simpsons "3 stooges syndrome" from his days hookering, doing drugs, and beating up women.
ReplyDeleteI wouldnt consider Pitt to be A-, but a solid A or A+
ReplyDeleteWell his status took a hit after Angie made those allegations and he hasn't had a movie out in a LONG time. Plus he lost a lot of weight and regularly visits an infectious disease doctor in Beverly Hills. It adds up. Maybe he caught some weird disease from hanging out in Cambodia?
ReplyDeleteBut if you were hiding an illness that's the last thing you would do, make an announcement.
ReplyDeleteHe looked like a kid but he was easily mid twenties with a baby face during the Dallas years
ReplyDeleteCant be Leto. Was in a blind yesterday and was an A+ movie actor only because of the Academy Award. Daniel Day Lewis?
ReplyDeleteBale will work on a movie about Dick Cheney this September and he was in Holliday at Miami with his family last week
ReplyDeleteLove you Brad.
ReplyDeleteNot an AA winner (nominee, but no win).
ReplyDeleteDoesnt say he is hiding an illness. Some people like to keep private things private.
ReplyDeleteJackie Earle Haley?
ReplyDeleteYou take malaria medicine during your visit. If anything, his liver vould be shot by drugs and alcohol. I know lots of people who travel to Cambodia all the time and they are fine.
ReplyDeleteMost listed are, sorry, old.
ReplyDeleteFirst thought is Daniel Day-Lewis, who does not do a lot of movies and recently announce his retirement. Yet Enty didn't mention foreign born, so I guess it's not him or Christian Bale. Adrien Brody?
ReplyDeleteMatt Dillon, Sean Penn, Nick Cage were all teen actors.
ReplyDeleteTimothy Hutton?
ReplyDelete15 thumbs down? Really? I see the fat people are still hating on me. Whatever. I still say it's Brad. I think he's in liver failure from Hepatitis B. Angie used Needles (allegedly) and even if he didn't she could have given it to him from sex. It hides in the body a long time then suddenly the liver starts to go. He recently lost a lot of weight? Why? He was think to begin with. And he gave up alcohol. In spite of those things he does not look good, he looks like he has aged 10 years in 3. And Angie looks like death. Something is there.....
ReplyDeleteI hope I am wrong.
ReplyDeleteTom Hanks is the only AA winner I can find with a known illness.. type 2 diabetes. Whomever it is....very sad!
ReplyDeleteJosh Brolin, Christian Bale also started out as teen actors.
ReplyDeleteBrad hasn't won an Oscar so it ain't him.
ReplyDeleteExcept nothing about him fits this blind.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Day Lewis. He abruptly announced his retirement from acting. He had a bit part in a movie at 14 years old.
ReplyDeleteBrad won an Oscar for Producer of 12 Years a Slave. Of course he had to share it with 4 or 5 others but he did win.
ReplyDeleteGeorge Clooney. He was an extra in the tv mini series, Centenniel, in 1978.
ReplyDeleteType 2 diabetes is a common disorder.
ReplyDeleteEmmy Awards are not the Academy Awards. The official name of the Oscars is The Academy Awards.
ReplyDeleteWikipedia has a list of male actors who won the academy awards listed by age. I am looking at men born on or after 1950. My best guess for this blind is Daniel Day Lewis. DiCaprio is my second guess.
ReplyDeleteOther actors who could fit the blind based solely on age: William Hurt, Tom Hanks, Nicholas Cage, Geoffrey Rush, Roberto Begnini, Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Denzel Washington, Adrienne Brody, Sean Penn, Jamie Foxx, Forrest Whitaker, Colin Firth, Jean DuJardin, Matthew Macconaughy, Eddie Redmayne, Leonardo diCaprio, Casey Affleck.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Academy_Award_Best_Actor_winners_by_age
Here is a link to best supporting male actor winners and nominees. However the age is not listed.
ReplyDeletehttps://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Supporting_Actor
Enty did not say the actor won the award for acting and did not say the actor was a multiple Academy Award winner. If he is not a multiple academy award winner then that means Daniel Day Lewis, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, and Kevin Spacey are out. He said the actor is fairly young, to me that is under 45 years of age. Who knows what Enty meant. I went back to the best supporting actor list. Here is a list of people who could fit the blind:
ReplyDeleteTimothy Hutton, Denzel Washington, Cuba Holding, Jr., Benicio Del Toro, Chris Cooper, Tim Robbins, George Clooney, Javier Bardem, Christoph Waltz, Christian Bale, Jared Leto, Mark Rylance, and Mahershala Ali.
Based on both lists I will go with Daniel Day Lewis, diCaprio, MacConaughy, George Clooney (He has had a dramatic weight loss and he had a head injury that resulted in damage to a blood vessel that cannot be reached through surgery), Christian Bale, Cuba Holding, Jr. (He looks terrible).
Actors under age 62 who won multiple times:
ReplyDeleteMel Gibson, Daniel Day Lewis, Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey, and Sean Penn.
Actors under age 60 who won an Oscar in a non-acting category:
Mel Gibson and Ron Howard are a little over 60 years of age, so Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Brad Pitt (I had a hard time finding more names).
Actors under age 60 who won for best supporting actor:
Timothy Hutton, Cuba Holding, Jr., Benecio del Toro, Tim Robbins, George Clooney, Javier Bardem, Christian Bale, Jared Leto, Mark Rylance, Mahershala Ali, and Kevin Spacey.
For all of you that guessed Daniel Day Lewis, he is 60 years old. Tom Hanks will be 61. Entry said FAIRLY YOUNG.
Actors under age 60 who won for best actor:
Nicholas Cage, Kevin Spacey, Russell Crowe, Adrien Brody, Sean Penn, Jamie Foxx, Forest Whitaker, Colin Firth, Jean Dujardin, Matthew McConaughey, Eddie Redmayne, Leonardo DiCaprio, Casey Affleck.
Cuba Gooding Jr. Damn you autocorrect!
ReplyDeleteNot Brad Pitt. He started acting when he was 23. He chose acting over seminary.
ReplyDelete13 men fit the blind at first glance, but if we look at what Enty did not say then the actor is most likely Casey Affleck, Adrien Brody, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Timothy Hutton. C. Affleck is the youngest in this group, Hutton is the oldest.
ReplyDeleteOnly Eddie Redmayne is in his 30's. Only 7 men are in their 40's (DiCaprio, both Affleck brothers, Matt Damon, Christian Bale, Adrien Brody, Cuba Gooding, Jr.). Sean Penn, Timothy Hutton, and George Clooney are 56 years old. Daniel Day Lewis is 60, Ron Howard 63.
To narrow it down further, Entry did NOT say foreign born, so Bale, Lewis and Redmayne are out. Enty did NOT say multiple Academy Award Winner, so that means Howard, Penn, Lewis, Clooney, and Ben Affleck are out.
1. Daniel Day Lewis, age 60
2. Sean Penn, age 56 (will turn 57 in August)
3. Ben Affleck, age 44 (will turn 45 in August)
4. Matt Damon, age 46 (will turn 47 in October)
5. Timothy Hutton, age 56 (will turn 57 in August)
6. Cuba Gooding, Jr., Age 49
7. George Clooney, age 56
8. Christian Bale, age 43
9. Adrien Brody, age 44
10. Leonardo DiCaprio, age 42
11. Eddie Redmayne, age 35
12. Casey Affleck, age 41 (will turn 42 in August)
13. Ron Howard, age 63
Clooney has a non acting Oscar as well.
ReplyDeleteDillon never won. Cage is film only.
ReplyDeleteLeto started in his 20's. Lewis is foreign born.
ReplyDeletePitt has an Oscar. 12 Years A Slave won best. Producers collect the best picture award.
ReplyDeleteCannot be Brad. He started acting during his early twenties after turning down seminary.
ReplyDeleteHale and DiCaprio are not the only ones that fit. Eddie Redmayne is the youngest one that fits. Sean Penn and Timothy Hutton will be 57 this year. See my comment on the 13 who fit at a glance.
ReplyDeleteHe could fit but he is 60 years old and foreign born.
ReplyDeleteHe could fit. Entry did not say how many Oscars the actor has, so if it is only one then Sean Penn is out.
ReplyDeleteUnless Wikipedia and IMDb are wrong, it can't be Cage because he only has film credits.
ReplyDeletePossibly. Entry did not say the actor was foreign born. If the actor is American it can't be him.
ReplyDeleteLeto started acting in his early 20's. Bale is foreign born but otherwise he fits.
ReplyDeleteFYI - Enty doesn't always say foreign born (even if they are), nor does he always say 'multiple winner' (even if they are). There isn't a consistency to his descriptions (partly because it's not always the same person writing the blinds). Good research, though.
ReplyDeleteIt was Tom Cruise, not Brad Pitt, who chose acting over entering a seminary.
ReplyDeletethe main clue here is A list. If Enty called someone like Jared Leto A+ then this actor cant be so famous
ReplyDeletePeople like Leo Dicaprio, DDL, Tom Hanks are A+ list for sure
I think this is Daniel Day Lewis. I thought I had heard something about him not looking or being well.
ReplyDeleteMichael Douglas started as a teen and won an oscar for producing one flew over the cuckoos nest. Compared to his dad, he's young. And has had cancer.
ReplyDeleteDDL is not A-. He'd be A+ for sure. So would Brad and Hanks. I was thinking Colin Firth, perhaps?
ReplyDeleteHe is 72 years old. If he were to die today most people would agree he lived a full life.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information! I was trying to narrow down the list of 13. I think he twists some information to make some of the guesses more difficult.
ReplyDeleteWhen I did more digging I found out Leto did not act as a teenager. I remember him from being on the show My So Called Life and he was very popular then. He is A list to some people. In any case, he doesn't fit the blind.
ReplyDeleteI read a long time ago Brad Pitt considered going to seminary. A lot of actors turned down seminary. Off the top of my head I can think of Peter MacNichol and Phillip Michael Thomas.
ReplyDeleteThree Best Actor Oscars?
ReplyDeleteWTH do you have to do get Permanent A++/Legend status?
Hugh Jackman has been looking ill.
ReplyDeleteThere was a blind on an actor who has liver disease due to fucking up his body from losing and gaining weight in a very unhealthy manner. It was not thought to be Tom Hanks, who admitted to Type 2 diabetes that was in part due to gaining weight for roles. It was thought to be Christian Bale. When you lose weight like he did you can get fatty liver disease, just like a cat who hasn't eaten food for a week. You can go into fulminant hepatic failure, you get hepatitis (the liver becomes inflamed) and it decides to crap out on you.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how Liam Neeson fits but he keeps on "losing weight for movie roles" and he loses 20-30 pounds every year it seems. He did i in 2015, gained weight back, lost weight again in 2016 and gained it back. I wouldn't be surprised if he's lost it again for a "role" this year.
I've just seen pictures online of Leo looking like he has a port under his t-shirt!
