Blind Item #15

This A list director does not have any friends who are women of color so it shouldn't come as a shock that she has no idea how to write for women of color. She has always whitewashed much like another famous family member.

She cut the slave character from Beguiled. Could be true or made up because of this.

Apocalypse Now had a young Laurence Fishburne in it as one of the boys on the boat and the boat captain was a black guy, too.

My question is so what? I am certain there are plenty of black directors and writers who have no idea how to present white characters as anything other then stereotyped trucker cap wearing racists.

Dagos are minorities, and the Godfather is about them.

  10. Sophia Coppola obviously the Beguiled is set during the civil war of course there were slaves there. If you watch Coppola films they are VERY WHITE. I think only one the Bling Ring had an Asian character and that actress was not even completely Asian she was half white too.

alas, a lot of white/non-black people don't have black friends. There is a big divide in this country, and it's not really Sophia's fault. But she should try to diversify her films anyway.

The Bling Ring was based on a true story that just happened to have a Korean and no blacks.

She doesn't live in West Hell. She lives in Hollywood. Not the most isolated place in the world with no diversity.

Yes, she took the two black slave characters in the book out of the movie. She claimed it was because she didn't want to "diminish the role of slavery". Mmm hmm...okay girl.
