101. I spent 4 days being his and his cunt wife caregiver. Two of the nastiest people I ever met. She was about 25 years younger than he was. I suppose at one time she was his trophy wife? Found out I did not have the temprement to wait on people and put up with their bullshit. Don't take it out on me that you're old.
One of my stepmothers befriended this really cool lady who was 97 when I met her. Never wanted kids. She held many patents for consumer products she invented. Traveled the world with her husband who was an exec. Her last career was as house mother for a fraternity. She was sharp.
One of my grandmothers died at 99, the other one is 94; but I meet people older than 100 from time to time when I walk on the streets. When they die, I have to go to their funerals and I see their ages, because it is impolite to ask people their age. Others I see in the local paper when they are older than one hundred and something or it is a very slow news day, and being this a village, I have seen them in person most of the times.
Former boss who started his own company at age 60, became very successful and worked 11 hours every day, quite literally until the day before he died at age 95.
Even at 90, refused to use a golf cart when playing golf and carried his own clubs. He said carts were for pussies!
my next-door neighbor: she's 93 & all my family just adore her: intelligent, highly educated, great manners, cute, crispy dressed (no "assistants, makes her laundry herself); has a nice children & grandchildren, they visit her frequently... P.S.im afraid my generation is loosing this kind of "classy"...
THIS is why I keep saying that my dream is to go live somewhere really remote and have my own farm and only consume stuff I grow myself. I strongly believe that modern farming full of pesticides and all the preservatives in our food, is what is killing people off at such a young age!
My husband's neighbor when we were dating, he was 98, lived alone, and was still driving! He lived to be 103, and was active and mentally sharp to the end.
I'm not really sure how old my grandmother was when she died, but at age 84 she tore down a barbed wire fence and mowed her large yard regularly with a push mower.
My Grandma. She was 99 when she died. Lived on a farm her whole life.
