When you think of this permanent A list singer from a permanent A list group, you think of him being a pretty nice guy. You would never suspect that he has walked away from two overdoses and not done anything about it. The first happened several decades ago. He was using heroin. The band had played a show and he was with a groupie at her house. They had bought some heroin from a dealer friend of hers. According to the former tour manager, he got a knock on his hotel room door from the singer. It was about 6am and the singer said he woke up next to the woman and he realized she was dead. Our singer didn't know what to do so got up from the bed and got dressed and then left the house. No one, not even the tour manager ever called the police to report the body.
Fast forward to the late 90's and it happened again. This time it happened in his hotel room while he was on tour. According to the tour manager, who found out later, the singer called the promoter of all of the international shows and told him what happened. The promoter told the singer to get his stuff and get out of the room and the promoter would take care of it. The promoter told the singer later that night in front of the tour manager that it had all been taken care of and that is the last anyone ever talked about it.
Doesn't say "foreign born" but Bono? If not Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys
ReplyDeleteRod Stewart?
ReplyDeleteDon Henley
ReplyDeleteFirst thought was Steven Tyler but I'd class him as A+ after reading the BI I don't think it's him, maybe Axl Rose.
ReplyDeleteOr Don Henley from the Eagles?
ReplyDeleteseems like steven tyler to me. axl rose isn't a "nice guy".
ReplyDeleteMcCartney
ReplyDeleteMick?
ReplyDeleteAnthony Keidis-RHCP
ReplyDeleteKeidis? was a user in the past.
ReplyDeleteSteven Tyler
ReplyDeleteSadly got that vibe too. Hope not.
ReplyDeleteNot a bad guess, but would you not expect that he walked away from two ODs, though? Kiedis' drug use is pretty well known, and his struggles with heroin addiction well documented. That's the only part of this that doesn't seem to quite fit.
ReplyDeleteAxl is not nice.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Enty wasn't the tour manager.
ReplyDelete+1 and the multiple 'permanents' being the clue. Permanent Vacation was a hit album for Aerosmith.
ReplyDeleteI would hope not... Probably not maybe the shock value the blind suggests, true. But the time frame and the fact that he is known as a fairly nice guy(for the biz anyway and since longsober)brought him to mind. Other person I thought of was Brett Michaels because he is a decent guy as well
ReplyDeleteOk.
ReplyDeleteI have many questions of which i'll post one:
Did the woman die of an OD; or, did the singer black out and kill her?
I was likely an OD, If she was murdered it would still be an open case. It was in her home,Steven Tyler is one of a very few people who is still considered a nice guy, even with all the stuff he admits to while under the influence.
ReplyDeleteI lot of suspects here. How many permanent A+ from permanent A+ bands touring over 3 decades?
ReplyDeleteIt, notI
ReplyDeleteSteven Tyler, he's the only one I can think of that people do think is a nice guy. It's known most of the others are massive a holes
ReplyDeleteJon Bon Jovi
ReplyDeleteHe is also rumoured to like them young.
ReplyDeleteI hope not, since his own daughter OD'd on the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI've heard he'snot so nice. My first thought was someone from Motley Crue, but most of them were assholes, too.
ReplyDeleteGod, no way. He's too boring
ReplyDeleteJagger is such a narcissist, I could see him doing this.
ReplyDeletecoukd also be Billie Joe Armstrong/Greenday
ReplyDeleteMarried to his second wife for like 25 years and during this time.Henley too ,same wife for decades . The guy is sleeping with groupies so probably would mention it I'd think but who knows.
ReplyDeleteI agree - but he fits
ReplyDeletePeter Cetera
ReplyDeleteHaha.
ReplyDeleteKeith.
Too much of a narcissist to sleep with junkies. Possibly Ronnie who is a sweetheart but has his recurring addiction issues.
I knew Green Day (and Jawbreaker, and Mr. T Experience and a lot of the pop-punk bands from the early 90's). They were sleeping on couches while living out of vans when they 'toured' in the early 90's, so you can't really fast forward from 'decades ago' to the 90's with them, because they started in the 90's. Green Day didn't even have a real 'tour manager' when I helped book them at my school (around 1992). They were the only band to really break out from those Bay Area bands of that era, but to fit them, I think the first incident would have to be in the mid-90's, and the second perhaps in the aughts.
ReplyDeleteBilly Joe is very nice, though. An alcoholic (or was) but nice.
I say Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode. It's well known his struggles with heroin and they have been around since the 80s. They are big enough to have someone clean up something like that. He seems like a nice guy too.
ReplyDeleteLadykiller by Lush was written about him.
ReplyDelete"walked away" - walk this way.
ReplyDeleteNot Dave because DM were not touring when he overdosed. DM only toured once in the late 90's (the 1998 singles tour) and he was 100% clean by that point.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought as well.
ReplyDeleteBono.
ReplyDeleteGood guesses. Here's another:
ReplyDeleteRoger Daltrey
I'm gonna take the 'Walked Away' clue and guess maybe.. Joe Walsh? (had a hit song in the 70's called "Walk Away")
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes.. I know he probably doesn't fit the 'permanent' A-list designation for most. But Enty's affinity for 70's stars is well known, so.. you never know. The Eagles are permanent A-list, of course.
ReplyDelete@david, the blind specifically says he walked away from two ODs and did nothing about them.
ReplyDeleteOh... I could see them being looked at as nice but don't they pride themselves of being drug free. So I'll go with Brett Michaels poison.
ReplyDeleteNobody and I mean nobody thinks that boy/man is nice.
ReplyDeleteReally Enty... Why the code everytime I leave a comment?
Roger Daltry doesn't drink and has never done heroin.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a Ray Donavan episode.
ReplyDeleteAlthough Tyler was married, that certainly didn't keep him away from groupies, LOL. It usually doesn't. Sounds like him, he struggled with heroin for quite some time and had several relapses after he first got clean.
ReplyDeleteJagger didn't do heroin.
ReplyDeleteBono had a heroin addiction that was kept on the down low and he has enough wealth to pay off any witnesses.
ReplyDeleteMaybe. Didn't he sing that duet with Trisha Yearwood in the 99s called "Walkaway Joe"?
ReplyDeleteLikes a joint, not a heroin user...that was John. Also are The Beatles A list? A++ surely?
ReplyDeleteThey weren't touring in the late 90s either ;) (I wish)
I'll go with a Rolling Stone.
Chris Cornell possibly
ReplyDeleteDid this A Hole Lister adopt either of these two ladies?
ReplyDeleteThat would narrow it down for me.
