Four For Friday - Date Raping Groupies
He doesn't seem the type, but most rapists don't look like the guy from Pennsylvania who wrote about his love of rape. There is not usually a big sign saying, I am going to rape you if you show any interest in me at all. Apparently this foreign born A+ list singer in a group has grown tired of the women who want to have sex with him on a near daily basis and he focuses on the women who seem less than interested in sex. Oh, they all know who he is and want to meet him, but have boyfriends or husbands or just wanted a fan moment and not a sex moment. Recently, this singer who all of you know met two women. One of them really wanted to have sex with the singer and her friend was just a fan and that's it. Not even a huge fan. Well, the singer had sex with the fan and then got the phone number of the other woman. He proceeded to send her gifts and call and text her. He would send flowers to her every day. At some point she broke down and agreed to go to dinner with him. He had a car service pick her up. She thought they were going to meet at the restaurant, but he had the service drop her off where he was staying. When she got there, he said they could just go together. He invited her in for a minute while he finished getting ready and could set the alarm. He offered her a drink and when he gave it to her started kissing her. She responded to the kiss but says that he when he pushed her down on the sofa she said no. He didn't listen and raped her right there on the sofa. When he finished he stood right up and said they should get to dinner. She said she was numb during the ride and dinner and after told him she was feeling sick when he said they should go back to his place. He called her a cab and that was the last she ever heard from him.

ReplyDeleteIts shock and fear and a whole lot of things put together. By the time you get your wits together..... the cops will question your delay as will the public even your own family. Also she agreed to go to dinner..... most guys will say she sort of consented to having sex. "why did she go out with if she did not want to sleep with him" sort of rubbish. Just the thought of the blow back from admitting to be a rape victim is too much to deal with. Never mind the physical and emotional damage. The world is a hostile place for anyone who reports a rape.

ReplyDeleteEven when victims do report rape, it almost never gets to trial. Even with a rape kit, consent is hard to prove/disprove. And the process is so horrible the victim often wants it all to go away.

ReplyDeletethe most telling thing about this creep is that he assumed that all was well and took her out to eat like nothing had happened. a lot of men seem to think that a woman who says no at first is being coy or doesn't want to look like a slut, so if she didn't try to gouge his eyes out, she consented.

ReplyDeleteWell weren't you paying attention to the Cosby trial verdict that was announced recently. Date Rape is very hard to prove in court...people say that since a girl went into his apartment she essentially consented to sex. Most victims would rather deal with the trauma themselves than go thru the embarrassment of a trial and acquittal. I don't blame them for not saying anything.

ReplyDeleteHe may "seem like the type", but no one has ever accused him of rape. I don't like the "doesn't seem like the type qualifier. And yes, I am an Oasis fan, but it is unfair to label anyone as someone who would probably rape you. The blind bothers me.
ReplyDeleteI heard a terrible story once about rumors that the Menudo handlers would pass the poor little boys around to all sorts of terrible predators in the music industry. The person who told me this swears some of the the parents tried to bring charges against the handlers, tried to bring this to the attention of the media and tried to warn the parents of the never ending rotation of new boys in the groups but that basically no one cared/could prove it/was credible enough to testify. Sick. Sick. Sick.

ReplyDeleteDo Tell - I agree with your comment but I've never thought that Ted Bundy was handsome at all. I grew up in Seattle and was acutely aware of the rapist/murderer named "Ted". I was around 10 when his grisly acts were reported to the public. Scared me to death.
ReplyDeleteRape/ sexual abuse doesn't equal sexuality. An ex of mine was sexually abused by his peewee football coach at a young age and is straight. Many men who weren't abused are gay. No correlation.
