Illinois Teen Charged In Stabbing Death Of Uber Driver
A 16-year-old girl charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of an Uber driver in north suburban Lincolnwood, Illinois, was denied bond Wednesday.
Police said Eliza Wasni, who was charged as an adult Wednesday, was located near the crime scene in possession of two weapons believed to have been used in the killing of 34-year-old Grant Nelson. Prosecutors say police found Wasni holding a knife and machete they allege she stole from the Wal-Mart where Nelson picked her up and chose him as a random victim. She had to be tased by officers, prosecutors say. Authorities said Nelson was driving Wasni when she began to “hack at him” from the back seat around 3:22 a.m.
Officers responded to the scene after someone reported a man was screaming for help in the area. Nelson was taken to St. Francis Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 7:55 a.m., police said. “We are heartbroken by the loss of one of our partners, Grant Nelson,” a spokeswoman for Uber said in a statement. “Our deepest sympathies and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” she continued, adding that the company is working with police and providing information that could be relevant to the investigation.
Thank Christ Pat Fu@king Quinn, the People's Candidate, signed off on getting rid of the death penalty.
ReplyDeletethe death penalty solves nothing...this girl clearly wanted to be killed by police or go to prison for the rest of her life. what we need is prison reform...set free non-violent drug offenders and make the evil ones work hard for their keep.
ReplyDeleteThe death penalty solves nothing. This girl is obviously mentally ill. I'm not saying she should ever be set free, but she needs treatment.
ReplyDeleteThis is just appalling. "Hack at him"? Jesus.
ReplyDeleteHave you considered that she might just enjoyed it? She may very well be a murderous psychopath and needs to be locked up for the rest of her life. I am wondering about a uber call from Walmart at 3 am, that poor driver
ReplyDeletethe fact that she went into the store to steal those items is what gets me. this wasn't an act of rage -- it was premeditated murder. for murder's sake. i agree that this is mental illness, but the law sometimes does not.
ReplyDeleteShe's been in and out of facilities. And honestly, mental illness is not much of a defense in my book for MOST crimes.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of one of the last scenes from that newish Emma Roberts movie, The Blackcoat's Daughter. I wonder if she saw it and was trying to summon a demon.
ReplyDeleteAt trial this will probably become a 'he tried to rape me' defense.. Maybe it was.... Did she confess??
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrifying story! Lock this girl up in a mental health facility.
ReplyDeleteHe picked her up AFTER she had already stolen the and machete from WalMart - so since Uber drivers are pretty random, she must have just wanted to randomly kill someone. Sick. Lock her up & throw away the key.
ReplyDeleteIt's absolutely a premeditated murder - and any mental health treatment she has had in the past has obviously not worked. Unfortunately, some mental illnesses (like personality disorders, of which antisocial personality disorder [aka "sociopath"] is one), have no cure - you just need to protect society from them. Lock her up & throw away the key!
