There is something strange going on. There is too much bad news that could hurt POTC5 coming out. There was no need for the writers to disclose that Depp rejected the version with a female lead. Then there is London Fields producers saying he put pressure on his then wife to not do explicit scenes that she previously agreed to. His agents counter suing him and those detailed being rehashed every week. (its that one story that keeps appearing in the same language but by different outlets) And other random shit. Maybe he is AVOIDING the press coz there is a lingering sentiment of negativity from his divorce. He has 6 new movies in the pipeline at various stages. Doubt the producers will risk him dropping dead. Does insurance cover drug use??? No right???
The nature of Hollywood is that you are untouchable until you aren't. A case in point is Charlie Sheen who was largely protected until he was no longer commercial and the dam of bad behavior news was broken. As for JD's "6 new movies" that is subject to qualification. He has four films completed or filming. He has an uncredited cameo in Amber's London Fields film, is to provide a voice in an animated film (Sherlock Gnomes), gets killed in the first reel of the Murder on The Orient Express remake and has one lead (LAbyrinth). Frankly cameos, voice work and supporting roles aren't hallmarks of an A+ career. Especially following on a series of box office and artistic duds. I expect that POTC will gross well, based on fanboys of the series, but the critical reviews I've read have been scathing, particularly in regards to JD's performance. When your career is in decline Hollywood has no commercial reason to protect you.
Sure, i understand the decline and no need to protect something that is not an asset. My question is about Disney not appearing to want to protect POTC5. Its strange coz they spent a large chunk of cash on it and i assume they want to recover it. If he was such a spent actor why has he working almost non stop since his divorce. He has filmed two movies. and when they release should we expect the same negative news and avoiding of the press??? Whats the point.... just dont cast him.
Why is he still doing drugs at his age? Hasn't Johnny gotten this shit out of his system YET? If not there is something fundamentally WRONG with him in that Charlie Sheen way....
Re-watched BLOW last night. He did a great job on that one. Wish he would go back to his French baby mama. He should have never left her. She seemed to keep him in check as much as he can be. This persona is who he is and has always been. Why can't we accept it?
You do realize that there's an enormous amount of time between when contracts are signed and filming starts, and then again until post-production and release, right? Any goodwill JD had got him the roles he's currently got. Let's see what he's got coming down the pike work-wise a year from now.
He looks great now, he was present on premiere but he didn't want to meet the journalists who did everything possible to destroy his career and life because they didn't have courage to tell the truth to the public.
I was talking about his personality, not alleged drug problems. He did seem out of it on Ellen last week but I attribute that to nerves. She's known for crossing lines in her questions. He has always marched to a different drummer. He's not Mr. Warm-N-Fuzzy. He's serious and introspective. Translation: He isn't 'on' all the time like Jim Carrey.
Depp
ReplyDeleteDepp, of course.
