Back in the day, this former A+ list mostly movie actor who is an Academy Award winner/nominee was set to play a superhero. The studio bailed on the movie though and the actor never got a chance. Now though, fast forward three decades and he is begging for a chance to play the superhero now. He feels like he is missing out on all this superhero money and that the studio owes him.
Kevin Costner/Green Lantern
Please tell me they aren't going to try this crap againš£
ReplyDeleteHere's a thought, multimillionaire who is way too old to be playing any DC/Marvel superheroes..cut back on your lifestyle if you're feeling strapped.
ReplyDeleteWho would've guessed him?
ReplyDeleteKevin Costner was excruciating to watch when he was younger. I seriously doubt watching an aging man in spandex will be any better.
ReplyDeleteIf they are, I think you can at least be assured it won't be with Costner.
ReplyDeleteRight? I totally thought this was Nic Cage and the Tim Burton/Kevin Smith Superman movie.
ReplyDelete+1
ReplyDeleteI think the only super hero Costner could pull off now is ViagraMan or CialisMan.
ReplyDeleteHahaha good one
ReplyDeletewow he is WAY too old to play a superhero.....sorry dude. you're way past that kind of prime.
ReplyDeleteas long as people keep showing up and paying money for crap, they will keep making crap (and these remakes etc) only when the bottomline becomes threatening does it create change
ReplyDeleteBut Dog the original sucked, may have lost money a reboot for this is ridiculous no matter who they give the role to.
ReplyDeleteYou would think he was happy he dodged a bullet with The Green Lantern. Dance With Wolves has given him carte blanche for the projects he can pick and choose. If he did The Green Lantern after DWW he would have had the same fall Eddie Murphy did with Norbit.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Kevin needs to read the previous BI to remember just how lucky he is.
He is the equivalent of over-operated- old-tits hanging out actress. Just can't get over the fact HE'S OLD.
ReplyDeleteGiven a choice, I'd rather see Ryan Reynolds do another one.
ReplyDeleteNo way out was the height of his career. It was all downhill after that. I personally HATED Dances with Wolves. It was stupid and boring.
ReplyDeleteAfter the success of 'hidden figures' he should have a solid career as a character actor, the lead roles are long gone. Be thankful he isn't meg ryan....
ReplyDeleteIn the middle to late 1980s, Costner was at his handsomest and studios were looking to cash in on his box office successes. The Superman franchise had slowly died out but Hollywood was always looking out for another movie they could sequal-ize over and over. Unfortunately, many executives and shareholders were wary of what they considered to be "children's superhero movies" (until the recently came into vogue). Costner had been signed and did pre-production for a proposed Green Lantern movie, although there were several problems including trying to get Costner into a skin-tight costume, a problem which would later face Brandon Routh during the making of "Superman Returns". In the end, with problems in production, cost and a possible lack of an audience, the project was dropped.
ReplyDeleteThere were foreigners in it, or gay people, right Jennifer?
ReplyDeleteAgree, I've really only enjoyed him post 2005 - eg Mr Brooks, Hidden Figures, couple others. He was so awful and wooden in his heyday. The Chris Hemsworth of his time but less attractive.
ReplyDeleteIt portrayed non-white indigenous people in a positive light, and portrayed whites in a negative manner.
ReplyDeleteWhat was the problem of getting Brandon Routh into a skin tight costume? He's in one on Legends of Tomorrow and that ass is nice and juicy. I think Brandon's problem was probably pawing off/sucking off Bryan Singer/Kevin Spacey for the part.
