Blind Item #4
The creator of one of the bigger hits on ABC not named Shonda feels like the network has really morphed the show into something he does not recognize. He said he never thought it would happen but this A- list comic actress who had a similar type show says she told him from day one what would happen and to not sign with the network if he was not prepared for it.
The Goldbergs?
ReplyDeleteDr. Ken. Terrible show.
ReplyDeleteEddie Huang: Fresh Off the Boat
ReplyDeleteAmerican Housewife, Sarah Dunn and Roseanne Barr?
ReplyDeleteMakes sense. He's said as much.
ReplyDeleteBlackish? Anthony Anderson & traci ellies Ross?
ReplyDeleteProbably Margaret Cho
ReplyDeleteThis isn't even a blind. Huang left the show in disgust a while ago and was interviewed a few times about it. The comedian is Margret Cho.
ReplyDeleteaccidentally switched to the channel that has this show while it was on.
ReplyDeletethe lady who plays the american housewife...she has the most annoying voice I've ever heard in my life. truly.
More annoying than Rosanne's, dog??
ReplyDeleteEddie Huang, Fresh Off the Boat. This blind is 2 or 3 years old...
ReplyDeleteMore annoying than Batman?
ReplyDeleteSo what did ABC do to it??
ReplyDeleteSounds like Fresh off The Boat. I'm not sure what his original vision for the show was, but I like the show for what it is, a light hearted "Family" comedy that is actually appropriate for the whole family. This and the Goldbergs are 2 of the very few shows on network TV that I'm comfortable watching with my 8 yr old daughter. There are many shows I watch that she can't and many she watches that I'm bored to tears with, so it's nice to have a couple of things we both enjoy together.
ReplyDeleteYes Roseanne was very annoying ?
ReplyDeleteInteresting blind.
ReplyDeleteThe Real O'Neals. Martha Plimpton as actress, created by Dan Savage.
ReplyDeleteEddie Huang wrote an autobiographical book about his childhood in Orlando as the kid of two Chinese immigrants. From what I've read, he was brutally honest about how his father was abusive and the racism he experienced as the one of the only Asian kids in his neighborhood. It's a dark story and he was upset that ABC turned it into a sunny, family sitcom.
ReplyDeleteI agree. To me, the blind really is who was the comedic actress who told him not sign with the network.
ReplyDeleteSo why move to orlando then?
ReplyDeletebecause it's been years since the fotb drama i'd like to go with this. does anyone remember the controversy with the star of the real oneals? personally love the show and absolutely love matt shively (the brother).
ReplyDeleteI think it is too.
