Real life snow day in the Northeast seems to have fizzled out except if you are really east. Like Eastern Connecticut and Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Suffolk County NY.
We haven't had snow properly since 2010/11! Storms aplenty, but no snow. Though when my daughter was born, we kept getting snow flurries every day. So her middle name (chosen by Dad) is Winter.
hi farmgirl, i'm upstate too and it's crazy windy and snowy. the dogs don't even want to go outside, not that I can get the door open. as far as snow day movies go, i'm sure fargo doesn't count, but it's close to my favorite movie of all time.
If a movie that has 88 votes in filmaffinity and a rating of 3.8/10 in the same site is the best one about something, I do not want to be in a hundred miles around the worst.
Movies in snowy enviroments that I have seen and are apparenty better: The shining; Fargo; Dersu Uzala; Nanook; Frozen; and So weit die Füße tragen (I do not know the name in English). The Simpsons episodes Mountain of Madness and Skinner's Sense of Snow are good too.
There has not been snow in the streets here since 1996 that I can remember. The weather is often bad (5ºC today), but we cannot make angels or see fellow citizens sliding because the snow never curdles.
Yes. And that's not even Kubrick's scariest ("Eyes Wide Shut" is, because of the implication of the terror never ending in the end). Not a a film, but a snowy music video I like: "Last Christmas" (Wham!). Very gezellig.

ReplyDeleteWhat snow day?
ReplyDeleteIt's sunny & 84 degrees in Las Vegas!
About a foot here, but five miles west only five inches! (North New Jersey)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely still snowing here, we have more than a foot already.
ReplyDeleteNortheast, not coastal.
We are in upstate NY and have almost 2 feet. Definitely not fizzled.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see a.snow day movie that reflects a real snow day.
The Shining. I have to say I loved all those memes about the snow storm.
