'Flipping Nightmares' Star Armando Montelongo Hates Other Flipping Shows
Armando Montelongo was flipping houses in real life and on TV long before "Flip or Flop" came along. "Our show is different because we're literally showing the worst of the worst," Montelongo said. "It's not like other house-flipping shows that their budgets are subsidized by the network. These are real numbers and real budgets."
Montelongo, who starred in the first season of "Flip This House" in 2005, said fans have grown tired of what he calls "cookie cutter flipping show."
"Fans are tired of being bored of house flipping shows," he told us. That's why he decided to get back into the reality TV show business.
"[Fans told me], 'We want the original house flipper back. We want the guy who started this all to do a house flipping show.' And truth be told, I was bust my a-- with my businesses for eight years but now it's time and we're having so much fun making the show."
his time around, Montelongo is joined by his wife Whittney. At first, she was reluctant to appear on the show.
"She really didn't want to be on the TV show," Montelongo said. "But I kind of convinced her to be on the show against her will. She's fantastic! She is America's next sweetheart." (and really did want to be on a reality show)
I am still always going to be partial to Flipping Out.
As a Nevada Licensed Real Estate broker, my recommendation is: NEVER BUY A HOUSE BEING FLIPPED!
ReplyDeleteThe reason is, most home flippers are only in it for the profit. They do a lot of 'paint & carpet' yet will NOT fix some of the more expensive 'hidden' problems simply because they view the bottom-line as more important than delivering a well done property.
I know this because in the past I have acquired property, fixed it up, lived in it for a while, then flipped it.
I stopped because it got too expensive to acquire property, fix the problems, and upon re-sell, I wasn't making as much as I expected.
However, I wish Armando well.

ReplyDelete^^ So true! NEVER buy a flipped house. The outside is pretty while the foundation is weak.
I used to laugh my ass off at his old show - especially the cat house. Whittney must be a new wife. I actually liked the old one.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I can't afford cable/SAT so I don't have to have all these reality shows shoved in my face all day. I didn't understand story & par#5 looks pasted.
ReplyDeleteI only watch flip or flop to see what Christina is wearing next. And to play my own personal drinking game when she says the word OBSESSED
ReplyDeleteFlipping Out is awesome
ReplyDeleteI miss Flipping Boston so very, very much!!
ReplyDeleteBeing from the metropolitan Boston area, I loved that show.
ReplyDeleteAnd, it was nice to hear the 'original American accent' for a change.
'Nutn bedda dan paaarkin yur caa at havaad yaad.'
'wikked goood!'
=)
YES!! I used to live in Swampscott and I'd get all excited when I saw them filming around town! Wicked friggin pissah ??
ReplyDeleteHey-flipper here! And no I can't get close to getting rich off of one or two flips. I flip to subsidize my rental property purchases. I make sure that the house is sound. I spend far more on the stuff you don't see than what you do see. Get a good inspector and do a little homework. Don't be blinded by the bling-open the drawers and doors, look at the basement-really look! Look around toilets and tubs. Look at the windows and doors, take a good long look at the steroid look for water, staining from water, how the yard is graded. Not all of us are con artists. I know a family is going to live there and I won't sell a house I wouldn't love myself.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, I am seriously thinking of going into the business of flipping houses and I too would only sell one I would live in myself.
ReplyDeleteMe too....
