I did this a year or two ago, but readers are always coming in and it is one of my favorite things to ask people. First concert you attended whether with your parents or not.
I think the year was 1972 and it was Three Dog Night at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Also appearing was Lobo, and Buddy Miles. I was a teenager and went with a church group.

David Bowie Spectrum Philadelphia,1976, Isolar tour, was supposed to go to the Diamond Dogs show, my sister waited in line for hours and came home empty handed.
Jethro Tull in 1970 at the Cleveland Arena. My childhood friend's dad played hockey for the Cleveland Barons and her mom took a group of girls. We sat in the open press box with our feet dangling over the edge 'til her mom pulled us back in!
I saw Zeppelin at Day on the Green in '77 and then in '78 went to two Day on the Green concerts Rolling Stones; and then, Aerosmith, Foreigner, Pat Travers, Van Halen, AC/DC

First concert without parents: Guns N Roses. I was 13. Axl didn't even show up until after 1am, pissed on the stage at 2am, and I was out super late. Thankfully, I had parents who didn't give a shit.
Led Zeppelin June 10th 1977 at Madison square garden!! I was ten and went with my brother and sister!! It was to date one of the most phenomenal shows that I've ever seen :D and I still have the t-shirt it was $6.50 and that was expensive at the time!! Lol
A cute coworker asked me out on a date to go see Motörhead at the CanyonClub in Agoura Hills. I was 16 years old and and listened to new wave. I remember feeling shell shocked and Lemmy calling us f*ckers for not buying his new album. Fun times!
Late 50s. Atlanta, Ga. Went as guest of school mate Richard Hanna. Van Cliburn. He had just won the Russian piano award. First American. He was a rock star! Sat front row balcony and cried so hard it looked like rain falling down to the first floor. I will never forget that evening, ever!
Paul Revere and the Raiders.. and...The Carpenters. Got to meet them backstage in Houston for colas, autographs and chat too.. Twenty dollars extra. My best friend at Senior High Father was manager of the Concert Hall in downtown Houston.. she was thrilled, had to have a pal to keep her from fainting.. me not thrilled so much., I was into country music.
My former brother-in-law Randy surprised me with Bon Jovi/Skid Row tickets for my birthday. He took me and two of my sisters. I believe it was the Jersey Syndicate tour around 1988. He passed away suddenly on October 26, 2015. He was always so nice to me. I miss him very much.
blue oyster cult new year's eve academy of music 1974! apparently this was an incredible show with iggy pop opening? halfway thru i went down to the ladies lounge and a nice girl said, take one of these! lol i don't remember a thing but my dad picking me up in his jeep wagoneer. i did not say happy new years to my parents guests, somehow made it upstairs before falling over in the hall and having to crawl the rest of the way to my room good times yeah!
The Beatles at Forest Hills Stadium with my parents who took me and a couple of friends. One memorable moment: a girl got on stage and grabbed George Harrison from behind and held on for at least 20-30 seconds before she was removed. He very gamely kept playing while looking over his shoulder, like wtf? Was very young but it was very memorable. Whole concert before they came on that everyone totally ignored. Beatles arrived in the middle of stadium via helicopter if I remember correctly. So much screaming you only knew what song it was cause everyone else was singing along.
1986, Amnesty International 25th anniversary show at what was then called Giants Stadium/The Meadowlands, in NJ.
Acts included U2, Peter Gabriel, Howard Jones, Lou Reed, Bryan Adams, The Police, Joni Mitchell (who was actually booed because they stupidly put her on right before U2 or the Police), Bob Geldof, Joan Baez, Yoko Ono, John Waite, Jackson Browne, Ruben Blades, The Hooters, Little Steven, Miles Davis and more.
It was an 11 hour concert, my BFF and I (HS seniors at the time) had to lie to our parents to go, we had general admission and ended up very close to the stage. Awesome, awesome day.
@ Salaam.Karen Carpenter. OMG.i would have cried. What a beautiful voice and such great memories. Lucky you!!! Saw Rolling Stones, Led Zep with an Egyptian band, PIL, the hardest working man in showbiz, James Brown and Van Halen. Good good times!!
My first concert was Whitney Houston back in the 80s. I was in the 5th grade and had won the tix from a radio contest. **It's a great memory of Whitney and of my cousin who went with me. My cousin died unexpectedly in 2013, just over a year after Whitney. (Last week, Feb.11th marked 5 years since Whitney died. RIP..not forgotten)
Helen Reddy and Harry Chapin at the Cape Cod Coliseum in 1972 or 1971 with the mother of a friend. First concert without parents was the Beach Boys and Chicago in Maryland in 1975 or 76.
Flight of the Conchords with my parents. It was good but very awkward. Kristen Schaal did some standup at the beginning that was extremely sexual and I was there for my 14th birthday. This was in 2008 or 2009.
