Blind Items Revealed #5

This former A+ list reality star who everyone still hates likes to pretend she is doing good by donating things to charity. Yes, she is donating but it is stuff she got for free. It is not like she is donating things she paid for. Oh, but it won’t stop her from taking the tax deduction.
Paris HIlton
Not defending Paris Hilton or anything (haha) But it would be stupid to not deduct charitable donations from your taxes. It's allowed for a reason and encourages people to do it. Just because someone does it doesn't make the act more or less good. Also, she could be selling the things given to her for free. So seriously the snark makes YOU look petty not her.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like the tax laws, change them. I don't blame her for using the system.
ReplyDeleteParis may be crazy but she's not stupid.
ReplyDeleteShe could be selling them off on ebay and pocketing the money like a lot of other celebs do with stuff they get for free. I'm not mad at Paris for this.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't bother me. She received the goods because of her name and she donated it. It had a value. Cash equivalent. Are we upset when someone claims a tax deduction for cash donations? Nah. There are plenty of legitimate reasons to find fault with Paris.. dis ain't one
ReplyDeleteWell, I donate a lot to Goodwill and take my take off in my taxes. Raise your hand if you don't.
ReplyDeleteDid she receive a 1099-Misc form for any goods she received for free that were valued at over $600? She might have paid taxes on it.
ReplyDeleteThrift stores sell that stuff and make money.
ReplyDeleteBTW on FB yesterday there was a post of what's in a gift bag: a lot of crap nobody would want. Promotional stuff. A vaporizer. Diet vitamins. Cheap cosmetics. It was listed as having a value of $100,000.
