Both. If it's a book I want to read once...kindle it. If it's a book I want to go back periodically for references (any type of learning, healing, nutrition, health or do-it-yourself-type book), then I always buy the actual book.
E-Books all the way. I can carry a whole library in my Kindle when I travel and chose from a variety to read without lugging a bunch of heavy books around. Also love that I can change the font size and can highlight a word and get the meaning of it should it be unfamiliar to me.
Good point - plus, I can read in the dark on my kindle. The kindle app has white text on black ground, which is great - but I can't get it on the kindle device. Weird.
I get Kindle books from my library,. If its something I don't want to wait for, I buy in hardback, silly summer reading, I hit up dollar racks, or used book stores
I was print all the way, but then my son got a Kindle Paperwhite for his birthday. I got one for Christmas, and it's pretty damn awesome. I'm ready for Amazon to just rule the world. They're shipping me groceries, any book at my fingertips, and that prime, baby. I'm ready to just sign my paycheck directly over to them.
I'm old school, so hard copy print all the way! It's more satisfying to feel the weight of a book in your hand and feel the pages as you turn them. Not to mention that new book smell. Heaven!
If there's a crazy amount of vocabulary I know I'll need to look up (like Shakespeare) I read on digital so I can use the built-in dictionary instead it looking it all up manually. I've also recently discovered audio books and might start doing that (always end up realising I had been mispronouncing words).
But most of the time I use print. Anything digital format is too distracting for me (the notifications, the temptation, and everything). Same reason why I use paper planners/workbooks. (It lets me tuck my iPhone in its pouch, iPad cover closed, laptop turned off and actually tick things off my to-do list, and get things done. Sometimes I work on my laptop with my gadgets stored away.) I only read my downloaded books if I'm stuck waiting somewhere and I forgot to bring a print book. Plus, it sucks when you're trying to save juice on your gadgets.
Both!
ReplyDeleteI have many (many!) antique books that should only be read as they are. For new stuff, I use a kindle. For travel, audiobooks.
in movies
ReplyDeleteI only read them in print even though I have 3 or 4 different ways to read e-books. Unfortunately I haven't had time to read a book since July 2014.

ReplyDeleteLiterature is print,
ReplyDeleteErotica is electronic
Digital books... I've become too comfortable being able to set the font size I want every time. Gettin' too old for paper words!

ReplyDeleteI prefer print, but I can do either.
ReplyDeleteI rarely have time to sit down to read, so all my books are audiobooks. Bad narrators are a drag, though.
ReplyDeletePrint. I have to be able to flip back and forth easily to refresh my mind. eBooks frustrate me tremendously in this respect.

ReplyDeleteBoth. Also, I love to check out e books from the library. It's free.
ReplyDeletePrint. I dislike e-books.
ReplyDeleteElectronic is for webs, movies, and porn.
Audiobooks.
ReplyDeleteNothing feels better than a hard cover book in my hand. E-books are lame.

ReplyDeletePrint and audio though I have never used a kindle or nook. I read a lot of books.

I like how hardcover and spiral-bound books open flat on a surface too. And smelling new books is a joy.
ReplyDeleteprint, i collect my fav books all my life (kids books r included), a lot of problem w/ dust, but i love & proud of my private library...
ReplyDeleteBoth.
ReplyDeleteTruth. There is a book store near me that has the most amazing section of rare hard cover books and it just smells of knowledge. Love it!
