I was totally bummed that Taraji was not nominated and she was AMAZING in Hidden Figures. Not to mention you have 3 sistahs fighting for Supporting. They should have split it up somehow so that they all take Oscar gold but alas welcome to the Academy.
ReplyDeleteWhat an extraordinary year in film- all the nominees so deserving. Wish I caught all the films but I always get to them eventually. Personal wish for Ken Lonwrgan (MBTS), but I think it's Damien Chazelle's to lose (though Mel may be a contender /comeback story)
ReplyDelete*Lonergan
ReplyDeleteHaven't watch la la land yet, but I hate Romaric films. Nothing like that can happen in real life. At least to most people. Love doesn't exist.
ReplyDeletePlease ANY song but that stupid Justin Timberlake Trolls song for Best Song.
ReplyDeleteLol...
ReplyDeleteI hope Moonlight wins it all but realistically the only awards it will win are Adapted Screenplay and Supporting Actor. I can live with that.
ReplyDeleteI'll spare you all the suspense. All the black actors will win and there will be lots of narcissistic white people making political speeches.
ReplyDeleteExcue you obnoxious one. Your comments are annoying as fuck. Cant wait to block your ignorant racist ass. You are NOT white
ReplyDeleteThat comment was dor new troll jennifer
ReplyDeleteYou are trolling but you might be right lol
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised 13th was nominated for doc. While it's not the best doc in the group (the OJ doc is one should easily win), it's a very shocking documentary and it gave me a very different view of the constitution. I recommend it to all the open minded.
ReplyDeleteWell, to their credit, "Suicide Squad" did make someone buy a green wig (me). LOL.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind rooting for the measurable skills, but acting is immeasurable. So, eh.
What a lackluster bunch of films this year. With China buying everything in Hollywood that isn't nailed down, we can expect the film landscape to vastly change in the future. Can Chairman Mao-The Musical be in the works? Don't bet against it. Remember how many media outlets said Trump didn't stand a chance? Who is laughing now? Only saw Arrival this year which was beyond disappointing. Only went to see it because Jeremy was in it.
ReplyDelete+ 100
ReplyDeleteI only saw Manchester by the Sea and that was just OK.
Take your medication racist.
ReplyDeleteEnough with the nominations, Meryl, especially for something like Florence Foster Jenkins.
ReplyDeleteAs if JT wasn't insufferable enough...
ReplyDeleteI feel like she's an Auto-Nom at this point.
ReplyDeleteAnd Florence was lackluster.
ReplyDeleteThey should just create a special "Meryl Streep" award and just give it to her every year.
ReplyDeleteLa La Land is very overrated. I couldn't see what the fuss was about when i saw it.
ReplyDeletestupid + plagiarism (both music & lyrics)...
ReplyDeleteHell or Highwater deserves every award it's nominated for, especially Jeff Bridges and original screenplay.
ReplyDeleteAlso FUCK YEAH OCTAVIA!!! I watched S.W.A.T. this weekend, can't believe how far she's come.
Hugh Grant was fantastic in FFJ and should have been nominated, at least for supporting actor. I think that film was the best performance of his career so far. Meryl was a caricature. Also glad to see Viggo M. was nominated for Captain Fantastic, he was really great in that film. He deserves a win one of these days.
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked to see Michael Shannon get a nom for Nocturnal Animals. I loved the movie but ATJ won a golden globe and he wasn't nominated instead? MS was in it for maybe a couple scenes, nothing noteworthy. I thought Amy Adams would be for NA or Arrival
ReplyDeleteSaw this on Twitter, & I agree: Meryl Streep's 'Best Actress' nomination should have gone to Taraji P Henson for 'Hidden Faces'.
ReplyDeleteHugh Grant was definitely robbed of a nomination, and I would rather have seen Emily Blunt get nominated for Girl On A Train than Meryl for FFJ.
ReplyDeleteAnd nom or not, Mel Gibdon is still a festering piece of disgusting unmentionable.
SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU STUPID WHORE. Jennifer is 100% correct and everyone knows it. Calling her a racist doesn't change the facts.
ReplyDeleteThe black president of the Academy said last year she was going to *make sure* there would be plenty of diversity this year, in other words, forcing members to vote for the designated quota of minorities, rather than for whomever the fuck they wanted to vote.
The Oscars are officially a participation trophy JOKE, just like your white guilt apologist ass.
@hrh2. By the way. I am a person of color and not a whore. Glad you got your big boy panties all up in a bunch about a program you will never be a part of. The Oscars have the lowest ratings and have been a big yawn fest for the last 10 years. I'm sorry your deeply offended by the presence of people of color being acknowledged and maybe you take it personally because of your professional life. Calm down and seek counseling cause the hate will eat your soul away .
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy over the nomination for A man called Ove (yes I'm swedish so a bit partial but hey...) It's such a moving movie! It is based on a book and the first time I read it was incredible. Both tears and laughter... same with the movie! Watch it!
