Mary Tyler Moore Has Died
Mary Tyler Moore, the Emmy-winning sitcom star and Oscar-nominated actress known for her role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the 1980 movie Ordinary People, died on Wednesday in Connecticut. Moore's publicist confirmed the death to the Associated Press. She was 80. The cause of death was not immediately revealed.
Moore was born in 1936 in Brooklyn; she moved to Los Angeles at age eight. She started picking up minor television roles and landed a big break when she was cast in The Dick Van Dyke show as the wife of Van Dyke's Rob Petrie in 1961. In 1970, Moore starred in The Mary Tyler Moore Show, which ran until 1977. The show was a hit, pulling in 29 Emmy awards total during the course of its existence.
A TRUE pioneer, icon and class act. She will be missed and revered (hopefully)for generations to come and will certainly always be "That Girl" to me....
ReplyDeleteRest in paradise sweet lady
ReplyDeleteThis is my first visit to this site and I have to ask, who are you? My God, woman, do you just sit around all day waiting for posts to respond to? It is funny and sad at the same time. I won't be back to this site because it seems loaded with BS but you and a few other fools seem to think it is gospel. I encourage you to get a life, sweetie. God bless you!
ReplyDeleteI was That Girl
ReplyDeleteMy life is beautiful and full, thank you for your "sincere" concern" ,"first time poster":)
ReplyDeleteand most of come for fun .... I left Bible Study a long time ago luv, but since you brought it up I'm feeling a lil nostalgic and all....so-God Bless You Right Back My Child:)
Stalker, much???!!?
ReplyDeleteLol.... the inability some have to recognize or distinguish how inane , trite, and -pedestrian- it is to take the time to notate someone else's time, is rather -confounding, isn't it ? Sadly there were too many kids absent from class class the day they were handing out self awareness @Barbara
ReplyDelete:(
Jeez, can't a girl obsess and judge on a gossip website without any grief? A very strange comment, especially on the MTM posting.
ReplyDeleteRIP MTM! She was such an iconic celebrity.
And keep on keepin on Tricia.
Bless you Shorney
ReplyDelete:)
Will do....
She had been suffering for many years now, sorry to see her go, but she is finally out of pain. For you younger folks, please check out the Dick Van Dyke show, Carl Reiner and(I think) Rose Marie are still with us!
ReplyDeleteBye Felicia!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ Tricia. Perfect retort :)
ReplyDeleteShe was Mary Richards on the MTM show.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Tricia13s comments; she seems to know a lot of information.
?
ReplyDeleteThx Hortencia- likewise...:)
ReplyDelete2017 will best 2016 in celebrity deaths. Just a hunch.

ReplyDeletefor a first time visitor, let alone poster, you seem pretty familiar with the sites features?
ReplyDeleteI can only assume your first visit has been a rather lengthy one to get across everything.
and I'd love to hear your views on Derek. He's posted some crap in his day, often "first". There's hundreds of them for you to review during this "first visit" but hey, I'll give you a minute or 2 to compose that and eagerly await your commentary
I read this site for fun and I don't understand why people feel the need to be rude to other commentators, I look forward to Tricia13 comments as she tends to get them right , & does not deserve the nastiness
ReplyDeleteRIP. Who can turn the world on with a smile?
ReplyDeleteLike we haven't seen the highlighted @_____ here at all ever. You stupid idiot, on a tribute thread you show what a pathetic imbecile you are. Drop Dead! And get yourself a life you pile of rancid $hit.
ReplyDeleteRIP, Mary Richards and even Laura Petrie were role models for young girls in the 60s and 70s. MTM was talented and funny and cute as a button and a smart businesswoman too.
ReplyDeleteWho can turn the world on with her smile?
ReplyDeleteWho can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can never tell, why don't you take it
You're gonna make it after all
You're gonna make it after all
How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big, girl this time you're all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving
Love is all around, no need to waste it
You can never tell, why don't you take it
You might just make it after all
You might just make it after all
"Oh Rob!!!!" RIP true lady.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a stalker...it's DEREK.
ReplyDeleteMary..she gave us so many laughs, so many great seventies outfits, her beautiful hair, her figure.
ReplyDeleteICON
she was a great actress, humanitarian and genius comedienne who persevered even in illness.
what a gal.
@Tricia. I find it peculiar that for a first-time visitor to the site you have no idea about anyone and yet you feel compelled to hand out insults. So what are YOU doing on this site? Do you just sit around all day looking for new sites to go to to insult people? I don't know if you have a life or not Tricia, but sweetie, you should try being nicer to people. Nobody thinks much of people who throw insults around for no reason other than to be noticed. Well we noticed you and you stink.
ReplyDeleteMary did a book tour in the 90s and she was so open and wonderful. She wasn't Mary from the station but seemed to share some qualities. She spoke of the shows, her son, her family and her drinking.... everything and I just couldn't stand in that line to meet and greet but she sort of Mary'd up the whole space with her gracious spirit! I only bought season 4 from MTM and now the other seasons will skyrocket. Plus MTM had the best final show!!! Really great! I still tear up... RIP Mary. You are missed!
