Blind Item #20 - Golden Globes
That big speech everyone is talking about is not the only speech delivered by the permanent A+ list mostly movie actress. She saw her former co-star, the very young and impressionable co-star. The one who is still scared of the A+ lister. Our A+ lister took five minutes of her time and told the B+ list actress she could be one of the best actresses in the world, and to give up that other side thing she does which she is pretty good at. Our actress told the younger actress (who is an Academy Award winner/nominee) that she could be mediocre at both or the best ever actress and for her to make the right decision which is to just focus on acting.
Streep to Kendrick?
ReplyDeleteStreep/Steinfield?
ReplyDeleteAnd Hailees singing career
ReplyDeleteStreep to whoever. It's presumptuous to assume she can't be good at both.
ReplyDelete+2
ReplyDeleteMaybe Streep thinks whoever sucks at the side gig.
ReplyDeleteAbigail Breslin - Oscar nom.
ReplyDeleteCo-starred in August: Osage County, released an album in 2015.
I hope Streep in the first to go in 2017 for her MMA and NFL comment
ReplyDeleteNFL viewership is down so some people must agree with her. I personally love my concussions with a side of domestic violence, but whatevs ... Anyway, I suspect this one is Streep - Steinfeld.
ReplyDeleteOh wait did Streep and HS act in anything together? Of not, than the Bres then
ReplyDeleteHer speech really annoyed me. It's clear she's pandering for an Oscar nod this time. I also found it delightfully ironic/hypocritical that the Stallone girls with the GG girls this year and Sly was a presenter who received quite a bit of applause. Did these people not see the photos of him schmoozing their arch enemy DT on NYE?
ReplyDelete^^ *were* the golden globe girls
ReplyDeleteSteinfeld, since Breslin doesn't seem to have attended: http://www.imdb.com/search/title?roles=nm2794962,nm0000658&title_type=feature,tv_episode,video,tv_movie,tv_special,mini_series,documentary,game,short
ReplyDeleteEven though NFL ratings are down something like 8% this year, it still crushes pretty much all the shows they are up against. NFL needs to figure out how to reach those people who cut the wire and the audience figures will normalize.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, that uppity old hag is obviously clueless in attacking the NFL
Ummmm... She didn't diss the NFL or MMA. She simply said that they weren't art, which they aren't, and that we needed art as well or those two things would be all there was to watch. Geez. Don't get your jockstraps in a bunch: everyone is so easily offended these days, and takes the negative view of everything.
ReplyDeleteWhen there is a clearer view available from the high road, why not take it?
LOLOL. She's insufferable.
ReplyDeleteOh look, males are mad a woman said their sport isn't art. Get over yourselves.
ReplyDeleteMeh. She ain't wrong though.
ReplyDeletePlease. You will probably go before her. She's a tough old bird. Lol.
ReplyDeleteWhy is everyone annoyed with Meryl Streep's speech? I actually took time to Google the transcript ( don't normally care for acting awards because it's an illogical thing to do, IMO) and I thought it was nice. She doesn't come off like someone who lives in a bubble. In fact she spoke of actors from humble backgrounds and foreigners in a positive light. I didn't hear her in a video, but I thought the words were thoughtful and eloquent. She elaborated what pissed her off about the situation and wasn't simplistic about it at all.
ReplyDeleteI didn't love Carrie's dress, but I didn't really loathe it either. SJP? Ick. Definitely the worst combo of dress and styling.
ReplyDeleteMeryl's speech was tripe. Here's why.....
ReplyDeleteshe made no mention of those 4 Facebook GOONS who racially attacked that special needs boy because she didn't have the cojones to bring that up in mixed company. Instead she went after a soft target, Trump. She knew she would get plenty of accolades for it. The speech wasn't about tolerance, it was grandstanding for personal attention.
Or the teenage Texas football rapists who we're given a slap on the back by that corrupt judge. Racism happens to all dumb shit
ReplyDeleteAny "racism" you experience is caused by your lack of character and therefore your own fault. No one is going to like a hostile nasty piece if work like yourself. Get some counseling.
ReplyDelete*of
ReplyDeleteI do not have negative interactions with people but you obviously have an agenda and I am free to express myself over the obvious inequality about media coverage of these two HORRIFIC events. The inbreds in Texas are RAPISTS and were let go by the good ol boys in Texas. Every time you bring it up, I am going to respond.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do Sd. Both cases of assault are reprehensible, but what really disgusts me is the inequal amount of media coverage they're receiving.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to you above Sd, don't stop at your head. Keep right on eating til there's nothing left.
Likewise :)
ReplyDeleteYour gripe then is with the media not "white people" . What about the media constantly promoting racist "White cop" storylines to stir up riots every time some loser criminal gets shot? When a black cop shoots one no one cares.
ReplyDeletewhy would she talk about 4 kids that are in jail being handled at this time? they are now a non issue. DT on the other hand is not...come on, these are apples and oranges situations...
ReplyDeleteMeryl's speech was tedious garbage and here is why:
ReplyDeleteNOBODY CARES.
If people did care about actor's opinions, then Trump wouldn't have won!
*BOOM*
I wouldn't think of Kendrick as "very young and impressionable" - she's 31 and seems pretty self assured. Otherwise she fits.
ReplyDeleteGreat sport is as much a great, emotional art form as any movie or song or book. Makes grown men cry regularly.
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone saw it. No, no one cares.
ReplyDeleteThis idea that Rethuglicans can't get work and are hated by everyone in Hollywood is a fox news/flyover frau fantasy.
Conservatives do just fine in Hollywood and there's no shortage of them.
Streep's a national treasure and she will not be getting an Oscar this year. That's not what the speech was about, nor was it about hating the NFL or mixed martial arts. Leave it to you total fucking morons to completely miss the point of every goddamn thing you hear unless it's propaganda you're being spoon-fed by Hannity, Rush, Fuckface von Clownstick, Nazi Bannon and the rest of those thugs.
On the bright side, you'll never need additional lobotomies.
"I Ate My Own Head"
ReplyDeleteWe can actually tell that you have no head. It's the lack of brains, darling.
She wouldn't talk about that news story, nor should she. From the regularity with which this nonsense is being spewed, apparently "We've decided that she was supposed to talk about this other thing and she sucks because she didn't" is the Dumb Rethuglican Bot official talking point for Streep's takedown of Fuckface von Clownstick.
ReplyDeleteI love it that she won't even speak his name, nor did the First Lady in her epic takedown of Fuckface von Clownstick.
I wish I could go high when these right-wing scumbags go low but I'm not that nice. I actually prefer to stay low so that I can kick them in the balls.
I think you need to change your tampon, Barbs. It's soggy and is affecting your brain's ability to reason properly. Do not EVER assume to know my political leanings because you don't. I loathe all hypocrites regardless of their political affiliation. It's also a fact that actresses who become politically outspoken at awards ceremonies find that not working out so well for their careers. Ask Vanessa Redgrave how that worked out for her.
ReplyDeleteYou need an avatar while you eat your own head, darling.

Oh, hey there, Poo Shoes/marlo.

See ya real soon!
Vanessa Redgrave was one of the most gifted actresses of recent decades. Her reputation remained intact, she is widely respected and frequently honored. She is still a working actress to this day.
ReplyDeleteDon't confuse the dearth of roles for women over 40 with any unpopularity on her part. She is revered in film, television and stage circles and rightly so.
It's Anna Kendrick. She starred with Meryl in the film "Into the woods".
ReplyDeleteMalubuinbred - you thinking I will open any link you post, when I think you're a bloody retard, only demonstrates your inability for self awareness. I laugh at you, and you think I should take you seriously?
ReplyDeleteIs it because nobody else does in the real world either?
NOBODY cares about Meryl Streep's political opinions, just like NOBODY cares about yours.
