Today's Blind Items - Party At Six Flags

For those of you who read the site yesterday I said I had some stories to share about a certain person. This is one of those stories. This probably happened two or three months after the Vegas trip I wrote about a long time ago. That might have been first year stuff on the site. Certainly close to it. Anyway, it was late summer or early fall. It was hot. The kind of hot that LA seems to sear into you in September and October. If you like visiting Phoenix or Palm Springs in July then LA in the early fall is your kind of place.

I know she was married at that point in time but I don't think they ever saw each other. He was too busy cruising through West Hollywood and she was too busy partying with a little work thrown in. Anyway, she had met this actress at an upfront for the new season. Lets call the actress AW. Like the root beer. Apparently they got to talking and had a lot in common, including a boss. Plus, AW liked to party. Our friend invited me along. I thought we were going to go to a house or a restaurant or something. Nope. We went out deep into the valley. To an industrial park in the middle of nowhere that also contained studios. I remember the security guard at the gate tried to stop our friend from coming into the lot and she said something very creepy about his manhood and the guy let us in. It was strange. No yelling or screaming or do you know who I am, just something about his manhood and a razor and voila, entrance granted.

We didn't know exactly where we were going and finally parked and started wandering around. Did I mention how hot it was? How little shade there was? I literally was bathed in sweat. I feel like that happens to me frequently. After asking around we found the stage we wanted. Shortly thereafter we found AW who invited us to her trailer for a drink or six. While AW and our friend did a little nose candy, I stuck to booze. Always booze for me. I don't make enough money to get addicted to something else. Our friend asked about AW's husband which led to AW getting completely naked and showing off a wide variety of bruises and marks all over her body left by her husband. AW had just started on the show she was filming and honestly  go back and look at old episodes and I'm not sure how they managed to cover all the bruises. Apparently she got beat all the time and finally was in the process of leaving the guy. It was just too much. While doing some nose candy, she was also popping pills and drinking booze. Numb the pain she said. I wasn't sure if she was talking about physical, emotional or both. When AW started asking some questions of her own to our friend I found out that our friend had sex with one of her bosses which led to some serious fighting with a couple of her co-stars. Apparently it only happened once, but our friend told some people who told others and it got back to the co-stars. Most didn't care, but a couple did.

At some point we were joined by some of the other cast and a couple of the crew members. It was turning into quite the party and someone suggested we go sneak into an area of an amusement park across the street that was under construction. It was going to be a water park and apparently one of the pools had been filled as a test of some of the systems. A couple of the crew members had discovered a way in and so we all went. A group of 20 people all sneaking in through a delivery entrance for construction crews who were still building the place. At this point it was probably 7 or 8pm. You could hear the roller coasters and screams of guests at the other part of the park but it was super quiet and spooky by this pool. No lights. Everyone got in the pool. All stages of dressed and undressed. Did I tell you that crew members have the greatest ability to procure ice chests and ice from out of nowhere. And beer. There was so much beer. We must have all stayed until right at midnight. There was a security patrol that I guess started working at midnight so we left quickly. I remember all of us crossing the street back to the studio and people carrying clothes and a few towels and helping those who were drunk cross safely. Our friend was wasted out of her mind so I had to drive us back. She had on a t-shirt some guy had given her of the show where AW worked. I have no idea what happened to the clothes she had been wearing earlier. She literally was only wearing a t-shirt. Good times.

When I read the news that tennis legend Bud Collins has passed away, I recalled the one and only time I met the guy. It was during one of those mindless tennis tournaments that go on between the Grand Slams. Just another week with 32 tennis players hoping to pick up a few bucks in the middle of nowhere. It was just a quick hello and moving on. He took the time to say hi to everyone who recognized him from television and he autographed a pair of pants for a guy that only someone like Bud would like.

Nothing of note really happened that week, but a few weeks later, tennis, or at least one player would be front and center in my life for about a week. The crazy thing about this tennis player is that she was one of the top ranked women in the world when this happened back in the day and is still one of the top ranked women in the world. I’m too lazy to look but I don’t think she was 21 when this happened. Maybe just a shade under. I was at the tournament trying to make contacts and do some networking. I had been given free tickets and some hospitality passes. You know what hospitality passes mean? Free booze. So, yeah, I was there. One of the things you got to also do with these passes was go to an event that featured a lot of the tennis players before the week of play actually started. It was a thank you to the sponsors and an opportunity for them to get up close and personal with the players and for me to get not only free booze, but also free food. Win win.

I remember that Jennifer Capriati was there and this was the year of her comeback, maybe the year after. I know they drug tested back then, but she was jacked up on something. Seriously. Like a thousand miles per hour. It was the roadrunner for two straight hours. Plus, she talked that fast too. She was a whirlwind. i was watching it all happen from the bar. Have I told you how much I love open bars? Never see me more than ten feet from one because if you get too far away, someone pushes their way in. People love free booze.

One of the tennis players walks up and orders a drink. Not just any drink, but whiskey. Well, hello new friend. As I said, I don’t think she was old enough to drink, but no one was going to card. I was just shocked that she would be drinking whiskey when she presumably had to play the next day.

I told her I admired her taste and I thought she was going to do that whole why is this creepy looking dude talking to me about whiskey and how can I get out of this gracefully in case he is a reporter look. Instead, I got a smile and witnessed her slam it down in one shot before ordering another. She then questioned my manliness because I was still drinking my drink. Well, I couldn’t have that and the next thing you know we each had five or six shots. This was someone who was in the top 5 in the world. Hammering back shots the night before she was supposed to play. It turns out the player she was going against the next day withdrew with an injury. My guess is my drinking buddy paid her $10K to withdraw. It was way more than she was going to earn getting waxed by Miss Whiskey.

After we had our shots, she said farewell and I thought that would be it. A couple of days later I was sitting in the stands during the middle of the day and someone hits me in the back of the head. I turn around and it is her. She has this huge smile on her face and says, lets go. She drags me to some player area and we have some food and drink, although this time she did stick to water. She had to play that night. We get to talking and she says her boyfriend is coming that night and would I mind taking one of her friends and making it a double date because she is not sure if she is going to break up with the guy (foreign born B- list tennis player at the time and nothing now) and wanted some people with her. I say fine. She says to come by her hotel that night about 7. I get there and she opens the door in a bra and shorts. On the bed is a guy who is definitely not the tennis player boyfriend. Nope. As I found out later it is a foreign born at the time B- list golfer who moved to A+ and still has A list name recognition. Surprise. Apparently he was not supposed to be in town but turned up when he missed a cut. She decides she is going to break up with the tennis player, but is scared so proceeds to have about five shots before we go, leaving the golfer behind. We get to dinner and my “date” is with me and our tennis player has four more drinks before the food comes and then has a bunch of wine with dinner and is just hammered. Wasted. In a restaurant. Surrounded by other diners. She then grabs this wine bucket and pukes in the bucket before getting up to go to the bathroom. As she gets up and is helped by my “date,” she turns to the tennis player and tells him they are breaking up and that she is “f**king” someone else. She leaves and now it is just me and this guy I just met. Nice. She never came back to the table. The good news is he paid.

Another chapter of my irregular look into celebrity charities. It was not that long ago that this charity seemed to be doing quite a bit of good. Founded and run by a B+ list mostly television actor who keeps bringing home that weekly check for that long running almost network television show. Donations were high and expenses were low. Actual things were getting done with the promise of a lot more down the road. Then, coinciding with a major life event, things have taken a dramatic turn. Now, the charity seems like it is still doing good things, but if you take a look inside the numbers, it seems to be doing more for the friends of our actor’s significant other. She likes to look like a big shot. While the amounts donated have doubled since she came around, the expenses have quadrupled. Huge salaries for very little work are being paid. Huge parties are being thrown so she can look good. The parties end up costing almost as much as they raise. Expenses they claim were spent on services were inflated to the point of lunacy. They definitely paid for the services, but at six times the going rate for the services. So, where did the excess funds go? Tens upon tens of thousands of dollars. Oh, and that monster purchase the charity triumphed? Just a tiny down payment. The rest has to be paid over time but they never stated that part. This is just going to come crashing down. The good work they could have done, gone up in smoke because of the need to be dramatic and get attention and publicity

She is an unstoppable force who probably does almost as many paying gigs as non-paying in any given year.

She will probably lose her job. When it all comes out, this B list talk show host deserves to be fired as much as her boss. The thing is though, she won't get a huge payday and probably won't get hired by anyone else. Our talk show host did a lot of vetting for her boss. Speaking on college campuses, she would screen intern candidates for their willingness to sleep with the boss. For years, it was a steady stream of interns that she kept funneling into the system. As a bonus, our host would also find interns who were open to that side thing the host loves so much. She brought in hundred to her side thing which made all those bosses thrilled. Not only for the people/money, but also for the other services they had already been providing to their bosses. When you hear from some of these former interns it sounds more akin to human trafficking than any actual real employment.

Another newbie to the blind items today. Never before has this A- list actor from a very hit pay cable show had the privilege of being in this spot or any blind. If you are going to have a first it should be in the big blind of the day. No beating around with the smaller ones. Go big or go home I say. Of course I generally say that when I'm half drunk in a bar. It is also when you say something to that effect that the people wanting to sell you bottle service magically appear and when I magically disappear and go home to my regularly priced bottles.

Anyway, our actor is married. He is out of town for work a lot. That show of his is all out of the country stuff. A lot of parts of Europe and our actor has a list of women on call in several of the countries. He loves hookers. He loves hookers like I love bacon. The thing is, he confides all of his extracurricular activities to outside the country. He could never get away with what he does over here. He couldn't get away with it in the UK or most of western Europe. He is far too well known and the tabloid offers would be too juicy. This is why he loves loves that show and loves loves filming anywhere remote where he can get his hooker on. If he is not shooting he is sleeping with someone. He might be the loyal husband and dad at home but he is the complete opposite away from home. An interesting thing though is he never drinks when he is with other women. he drinks at home and he drinks with friends but never ever when he is with a woman he is paying. I'm basing that on the two or three women I spoke to about him. He definitely has some kink in him and there is nothing shy about his behavior. It is a lot like his second most famous role. I tend to think of another role as his most famous. Depends on the crowd I guess.

In the decade of writing this site, I think I may have mentioned these two celebrities once or twice. Maybe. They have definitely never been a blind. Everyone on the outside looking in thinks they are super nice and fun and a joy. Nope. It is the complete opposite. It is one of those times that what you see on television is nothing like reality. That mild mannered pleasant thing they shoot for on television is just a show. In reality, they are money driven, do anything to get ahead and will ruin you if you cross them. They use their television power to make deals which are rarely fair to the other party and when they are called out on it, they do their best to ruin the other person. Here is how their little game works. They hear about a deal or someone comes to them with a deal. They lowball and lowball. If they get the deal, great. If they don't get the deal, they wait. They bide their time until the person tries to make another deal and they strike. The two celebrities come in and drive everyone else out. When the others are gone, our celebrities then bail out leaving the person with nothing except a bunch of fees and the knowledge if they try to do it again, the celebrities will be there once again. Invariably, the person comes back to the celebrities who then cut a deal even worse than their first offer. They have done this countless times but everyone is too scared to stand up to their bullying tactics.
