Apparently this permanent A list mostly movie actress craves more of those shiny Oscars. She laid down the law the other day with her manager and agent and publicist. She wants another one. Apparently her people then did some yelling and now the movie in which she starred is being released again. Yep, throw in the face of voters one more time. She already knows she has a Golden Globe nomination. Those reporters are scared to death to go against her.
Meryl Streep
"Florence Foster Jenkins" was decent, she was decent, but again..typical "good Meryl". Nothing that I think she had to really stretch for.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Hugh gets a nomination. He deserves it for that performance.
Meryl is turning into Madonna
ReplyDeletenot good Meryl not good
I'm not buying it.
ReplyDeleteI'm w/you Mike. Utter b.s. (like 95 percent of these blinds...)
ReplyDeleteAwwww. Meryl doesn't need another award for the world to know she's great. Let it go Streep.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows award shows are meaningless now more so than ever. Back in the day, maybe it was a "big deal." Now that everyone knows all awards are bought, exchanged, promised, etc it's become a joke.
I don't want to believe it either.
ReplyDeleteSome awards. I don't believe all awards are compromised.
ReplyDeleteThat said, the Oscar campaigning is very offputting and will make me decide against seeing a movie.
@hollah if you believed that you wouldnt keep showing up
ReplyDelete:)
I doubt that her agents have power to get a movie that apparently already had a theatric run to be released again. Unless by released again you mean dvd or digitally.
ReplyDeleteWhat a waste of everyone's time. Best Actress is going to Emma Stone or Natalie Portman this year...a two horse race.
ReplyDeleteThis is a year of expect the unexpected, so no, nothing is a for sure.
ReplyDeleteMeryl's last movie, Florence Foster Jenkins was terrible. I didn't enjoy it whatsoever. I find her roles aren't good as of late, but SHE makes them, i.e., reads scripts and decides on projects with her team, so who's to blame? Herself! She needs to chose better roles
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't for everyone, that's true, but it wasn't awful.
ReplyDeleteIf you aren't typically into smaller, more low-key art-house type of movies, then you would probably have been bored.
Me, neither. I'm thinking this is a either a smear campaign, or some disgruntled former employee leaked it.
ReplyDeleteActing is such an immeasurable art form anyway, it makes no logical sense to me to be awarding people for it.
ReplyDeleteMy nemesis! [Fisty shakes.] This is my year, Meryl... Mine!
ReplyDeleteJust kidding.
Meryl's crazy. I read a while ago that all her neighbors hate her.
ReplyDeleteStreep will get another one at some point anyway. "Florence" is good and she's good in it, but with Stone, Portman, Negga, Adams, and Huppert in the mix, this just isn't her year.
ReplyDeleteOver this Polanski defender
