This foreign born B+ list mostly movie actress is having a tough time getting work. Studios have basically closed the door on her and she has been forced to take overseas paycheck roles just to even get any acting jobs.
The press she's been trying to generate for herself might get her a reality show gig, but it won't get her an actual acting job. She needs to stop playing publicity games.
Hmmm-literally we just watched her in a bit part in "Fathers And Daughters" & a big role in "Disorder"(but I strictly watched that for Matthias Schoenaerts-one of my current crushes)w/i the last couple of weeks. So reading this I just went back to check her movies & find that I've liked her in many of them:Unknown,Wicker Park(weird one but I kept watching to see wtf was going on in that mess),Joyeux Noel,Farewell My Queen & more.....and I definately liked her in "The Bridge" TV series. I know actors know what they signed up for when they got into acting but it's still gotta hurt to start getting passed over more & more frequently once you hit a certain stage in life.Hell,it hurts for anyone-rejection isn't exclusive to actors...i'll stop babbling now.
Her possible breakout times were after National Treasure and later on TV with Bridges. I liked both but just never happened for her. I guess not every actress can hit the jackpot. I'm sure she will be just fine.
I think Enty has mentioned that she didn't like the game of self promotion, and if you don't care for it,the audience doesn't care for you. She's pretty, and a decent actress, but very forgettable. You see A+Lister plugging their films nonstop. Now she has to work for her parts and she's at the age where she doesn't want to do that.
That's funny, nothing on the other night so we watched Fathers and Daughters (we saw the cast list). Good movie, small role also never finished the Bridge but she was good. Also watched Wicker Park a few times, of course to try to figure it out not for handsome Josh Hartnett. Well, I'll have to add the Matthias movie you mentioned, watched Far From the Madding Crowd, like him
Hi @Suz, if you liked Far From A Madding Crowd & Him in it then you might like "A Little Chaos"-- it was directed by Alan Rickman(his last movie) & it's a sweet lil' film based on a true story re: one of the Versailles Gardens designed by a ....WOMAN! (Kate Winslet).., -- btw, I liked Fathers & Daughters too...alot actually...who knew?!?
I saw A Bigger Splash. Strange & slow but with that sense of forboding dread that lures you in & keeps you watching simply to find out how it ends for those 4 guys.
Ive only seen her in Inglorious Bastards. Looking at her IMDB nothing else stands-out as successful. I think B+ is a bit generous of a rating.
ReplyDeleteLiked her acting. But ahe got old too and times is money...

ReplyDelete'The Bridge'
ReplyDeleteShe was terrific in The Bridge. I was sorry that was canceled.

ReplyDeleteBullshit, she has ALWAYS worked in "overseas" roles more than in the US
