Today's Blind Items - On Set P Grab
I guess the Donald Trump video from last week brought out some memories from people about similar things happening on sets. This one really stood out because it was planned out in advance by the actor. Our actor is an Academy Award nominee. Didn't win. Supporting actor. The nomination was way back in the day. If you saw this actor you would all know his face, but lots of you wouldn't know his name. Character actor. He kind of has had a resurgence of fame since he was brought into the tent of the quirky director who always uses the same actors in his quirky movies. Good movies though.
For this one we need to go back a few decades. Indie film set. An award winning indie film. Beat out one of the classic indie films of all time at a very famous festival. Our actor had a scene where he is getting a lap dance from an actress. Prior to filming the scene with the actress, our actor showed off his collection of audition tapes from the handful of actresses who wanted to play the role. In a couple of them he was really proud of the way he would reach behind the actress and lift them by sliding his finger inside of them.
Fast forward to the filming of the scene. Our actor does the same move to the actress who got the part. She gets up and slaps the actor and told him that wasn't ok. For 24 hours, the director and producers begged the actress not to file any charges or any grievances with the union. After an apology from the actor, she agreed to stay and work and as far as I know has never told anyone. It was her first movie. She only worked in the business for a few years. It looks like she actually had a recurring role for several years on that network crime show that begat so many. One thing that struck me as interesting is that the director was married at the time to someone (long time actress who was going to be a one movie wonder until a cable show came along) who would have made sure the actress would have reported it.
Harvey Keitel?
ReplyDeleteHarvey Keital
ReplyDeleteDamn sandy--- on the same wavelength!
ReplyDelete:D should we try for the rest of it? Kinda vague though.
ReplyDeleteI actually think it may also be Seymour Cassel..... I'm gonna check it out.

ReplyDeleteLol... I'm on mobile so it's hard but Cassel was nomes for Chet (Cassavetes) film/ works frequently with Wes Anderson was on CSI or law and order (lots of TV), trying to get film it happened on and director
ReplyDeleteYep, movie was In the Soup was grand prize at 92' Sundance Awards, director Alexandre Rockwell was married to Jennifer Beals of Flashdance fame who had a career resurgence on cable tv's The L Word,
ReplyDeleteGreat work y'all
Who's the director's wife? Was trying to make Lorraine Bracco fit...
ReplyDeleteGood job MM ! I remember that film but was thinking the Player... totally Rockwell/Beals. I was friendly a bit with Cassels daughter in college --- yikes --- no wonder why she decided to not pursue acting!
ReplyDeleteBut Keitel's daughter was in Bad Lieutenant. Would he have acted that way if his daughter was around?
ReplyDeleteElizabeth Bracco for the Actress/ recurring on Crime Story
ReplyDeleteWhat an awful thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI wish there was a way for these actresses to actually file grievances/charges, without having it be career suicide.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. And why ISN'T it career suicide to stick your finger inside of someone???
ReplyDeleteDo ANY of you read the Drudge Report? Putin is calling for all Russian citizens living abroad to return home immediately. Scared much? I can almost see the missiles over Manhattan as I type this. Maybe I should go to B & H photo store now that Yom Kippur is over and get a new movie camera to film from my 14th floor roof. These blinds are just cotton candy for the mind.
ReplyDeleteIs the quirky director Wes Anderson?
ReplyDeleteWow, Bush Bunny. Long time no see on CDAN! While gone, you must have forgotten this site does not encourage actual thinking and making decisions about ones life. Of course no one reads the Drudge Report. Maybe Ryan. He's smart.
ReplyDeleteMy comment was directed to @Okay
ReplyDeleteAnd "back in the day" is 1992??!
ReplyDeleteI though it meant John Wayne times.
weird because Jennifer Beals is not only the director's wife but she costars in the movie...how did she not catch wind of it?
ReplyDeleteokay sooooo:

ReplyDeleteCan't be Liz Bracco, it says it was the actresses first film and she has credits going back to the early to mid 80s. What about Tassie Hogan?
