But back in the 20s racism and anti-semitic behavior was a lot more common and acceptable in some areas than the shit that had been hiding in the shadows until the last 3 or 4 years in America.

ReplyDeleteAnd he was also allegedly Stanwyck's first "beard" marriage, although they may have been bearding for each other. She later famously married Robert Taylor of course - bearding for each other again! - at the direct order of MGM head Louis Mayer, whom she count NOT afford to cross. The publicity stories about their "torrid affair" etc are as phony as the endless Tracy/Hepburn stuff.
