Blind Item #6
The parents of this foreign born child actress are getting out of control. A company wanted to give the actress a free trip and just wanted a couple of photos in return. No big deal. Always happens. The parents made it a big deal by sending in a couple of demands before the trip but not many. When they got to the destination though, they started demanding more and more and threatened to go on social media and rant about the destination if their demands were not met.

Disaster waiting to happen! Has she never heard of the Lohans, Haim, Culkin, Barrymore etc etc families. But she is so young-she would not have a say...

ReplyDeleteMaybe turn this around a bit. If this is Millie, we have the big money making, child actor exploiting Disney expecting to be able to again exploit a pre teen actress to publicize them for next to nothing. Disney constantly under pays their young talent, then cancels the shows when they can renegotiate the contracts. They know Millie is hot now, and can make money that she can't make from her series on Netflix (?) So the best thing to do is paint the family or managers as the bad guys.

And the parents have absolutely no money management skills at all.
It's a shame. Thankfully, Cali requires 15% be deposited in a coogan acct until the child is 18

ReplyDeleteI hate stage parents. They should be legally prohibited from making a dime off of their actor/singer kids, let alone living off of them.
My brother's an agent & looked into signing Millie. He met with her & her parents & decided it wasn't worth it. He's not big on signing younger actors & he's really against signing anyone that's got nightmare stage parents like she has. He said he could have made money with her, but dealing with her parents all the time wouldn't be worth it for him. She has to get away from her parents or make sure they're not involved in negotiations. From what my brother said Millie is going to have a career like the girl from American Beauty. That actresses dad was a pain & she eventually stopped getting big roles.

ReplyDelete+1M. I've always thought this. I never thought that the $100,000 request was outrageous. It's chump change to these companies and what they should be paying for a red hot actress who can bring in millions of dollars if marketed properly. Plus she looks like the type of kid who will still be attractive as she gets older. Unlike most actors her age, she's already proven that she is bankable now.
ReplyDeleteSo tell me this - and I'm being genuine here because I don't get what I'm missing. If a parent/s sacrifice their career to shuttle their kid from one event to the next, acting lessons, photoshoots, tryouts, rehersals, performances, moving to be closer to better opportunities, etc because they know their child has actual talent, is their behavior really that unreasonable? Is it uneasonable for a parent to want to fight for better things for their child? I mean, it's always better to negotiate with a child than a parent. They're kids and don't have the same life experiences. TIA

ReplyDeletePeople should take note of Miley's comments about being the lowest paid performer on Hannah Montana. Give Disney more freebies by getting a fortune in free advertising from Instagram followers and websites that publish the photos of her saying how great it is. Adults put pictures of themselves with a strategically placed bottled water and make $. Not to mention cosmetic companies hire The Jenner's and Hadids because of their viral following.
ReplyDeleteYou negotiate with their agent, not their parents. It's reasonable for parents to want the best for their kids, but there's a fine line between making sure she's getting paid what she's worth & making demands that are for yourself & not for your child. What my brother was talking about with them is that they're the Dina & Michael Lohan type of stage parents. My brother's experiences with stage parents like that is they almost always lead to to a child with serious drug & alcohol problems. They're the types that will make unreasonable demands & even if that's all the parents & not what Millie wants, it won't matter. Because parents like that eventually cause enough problems that it delays production, which cost the studios money to pay for overtime, pay for another day of shooting, & causing a studio to have to pay more money because the parents of an actor are being difficult is how a Lindsey Lohan gets created.
ReplyDeleteI get it now. Thank you. I guess some parents get around this by being their child's manager? Is that how they pay bills and such when the kids are so young? Regardless, parents need to understand that they are investing in their child's future, same as other parents and they don't see a dime of their kid's money either. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI know that some parents do act as their kids manager. There's some that get a real manager & then act as a co-manager, but that's kind of a "in name only," but it's a way for them to get some money out all this. Other parents act like an assistant or if their kid is a big enough star they might even get a producer credit & get some money that way. There are some good parents out there that protect their kids & take care of their child's money, but there's way more that are living their dreams of stardom through their child.
