This actress is really Old Hollywood and at one point was married to one of those last names that screams Old Hollywood. He wanted her life insurance money and killed her while they were out of the country. He was never charged.
Olive Thomas/John Pickford
Okay...so you're accusing someone of murder. Long ago or not, Enty, hope you have solid proof.
ReplyDeleteThis rumor has been around forever.
ReplyDeleteRead Hollywood Babylon. This is not a secret. This is a gossip site, you don't like leave.
ReplyDeleteHollywood Babylon is a bunch of crap. Most rumors in it have no corroboration and have been disproved.
ReplyDeleteWow she was a beauty ! Just googled her
ReplyDeleteSimmer down, Sally. I realize this is a gossip site, I was just commenting that the accusation was more sensational than usual. I take everything here with a grain of salt, but sometimes make some inane comment because, well, I enjoy being part of the commenters. Don't take my comments too much to heart cuz I don't put a whole lot of thought into them. =)
ReplyDeleteCan dead people sue for slander or libel?
ReplyDeleteI had to google her too. Gorgeous. I also googled her death and got this website (design from 1994, but the content is good): http://www.silentsaregolden.com/articles/lpolivethomasdeath.html
ReplyDeleteThe author of it gathered a bunch of old gossip like todays gossip blogs. Get over it. Don't like it, don't spend your day on a gossip blog.
ReplyDeleteShe was a model for Vargas & a Zeigfeld girl too.
ReplyDeleteIt's fine, there's a few posters here who like to get on their soap crates. But they're on a gossip site! It gets annoying.
ReplyDeleteHe didn't need her insurance money. If anything, she needed her own money as the Pickford family treated her like Jack had married beneath him. Despite all the rumors surrounding them it was probably an accidental poisoning.
ReplyDeleteThis is an old lie. She was conscious and speaking for days after accidentally drinking his syphilis medication. It was a drunken mistake. She blamed herself, and did not want to die. The label was in French.
ReplyDeleteThere were multiple doctors and nurses attending to her, and they did not start the rumor, the press did. Her death was awful and drawn-out, if there had been a real suspicion of murder the hospital would have said so.
Syphillis treatment would have been penicillin, doxycycline, or tetracycline. How does someone die from that (other than by anaphylaxis, which would have been rapid, not drawn-out)?
ReplyDeleteIt was mercury based and almost certainly an accident.
