This actress is looked at fondly and everyone loves her. All they remember is classic television show everyone loved and the tragic life event. They have forgotten what a holy terror she was and how everyone hated working with her. Hell, they still hate working with her, but the general public doesn't know that because we have her riding unicorns under rainbows because of what she went through. It was not that long ago that she was getting trashed by tabloids and other actors. When they talk about the actors on the show being awful to work with, they ten to shout out the name of a different actress on the show. The fact is, she might seem aloof now, but back in the day, she wasn't the troublemaker, the subject of our blind was.
There is no doubting she can be a very good actress. She is a multiple Academy Award nominee. I'm not going to say winner because she has never won. No one wants to vote for her. People are shocked she even got enough votes to be nominated. You will notice that her reputation for trouble has caused her to lose out on some very good roles the past five or six years. Why work with her when someone else will come in and be refreshing and positive. She thinks acting is beneath her except when she wants the perks from it.
She used to be in three or four projects a year until people finally caught on. She had to go the humble pie route in the past few years to get any work after coming up dry for years at a time. As soon as someone does give her a job, they regret it but if you talk to the tabloids they all give her a pass. Everyone else would be called out about it, but not her.
Michelle Williams?
ReplyDeleteshe fits....but I'm not sure Dawson's Creek is classic tv
ReplyDeleteTo a 90's child? pacey and joey 4 ever!
ReplyDeleteKatie is the one who gets dragged for dating both the guys in real life and leading them on, while playing the good catholic girl in interviews.
ReplyDeleteI disagree on the acting, I remember reading these fawning articles about how fantastic an actress she is for the marilyn role and the dicaprio movie, and after watching them, thinking .... Her?
ReplyDeleteMary McDonnell
ReplyDeleteAh, probably not. Cannot come up with a tragedy in her life.
ReplyDeleteI'm confused. The person on the show wasn't the troublemaker but the subject of the blind (the nominee) was. So is he talking about two people?
ReplyDeleteAlan Berkin ?
ReplyDeleteAgree with Michelle a Williams, she is a known junkie.
ReplyDelete+1agree it's Michelle but don't think she is as difficult as this says-maybe moody but not someone"nobody would work with"?
ReplyDeleteNo, he's saying that when people think of the troublemaker from that show, they think of Katie Holmes, but it was actually her.
ReplyDeleteMary Tyler Moore ? (Oscar nominee, son killed himself)
ReplyDeleteNM, MTM can't work anymore
ReplyDeleteKatie never lead anyone on where people get that is beyond me. She was always into Josh everyone knew this.
ReplyDeleteHowever I have heard this about MW and it doesn't surprise me it was rumored a former DC writer referred to her as a "cunt"
I also don't remember ever hearing that Katie Holmes was difficult to work with back then.
ReplyDeleteKatherine Heigel
ReplyDeleteJust throwing out some guesses and seeing which ones stick. These are actresses who have done TV and are Academy Award nominated.
ReplyDeleteShohreh Aghdashloo
Angela Bassett
Candace Bergen
Lorraine Bracco
Keisha Castle Hughes
Glenn Close
Toni Collette
Geena Davis
Viola Davis
Rachel Griffiths
Mary McDonnell
Michelle Williams
I think it's Michelle. You see her in indies and on stage - not any blockbusters. Even Katie got to be in a Dark Knight movie.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it's a classic show, but I'm one of the minority Joey & Dawson fans! Pacey should have been with Andie!!!
ReplyDeleteI was a big DC fan and used to read Television Without Pity's recaps and gossip, and they made it out that she was not only difficult but also a huge bulimic who liked to party but couldn't handle it. IDK if that's true though.
ReplyDeleteI also think that this is Michelle, and I'm not sure about NOW, but I can totally understand her being upset on the set of Dawson's Creek. I mean, she was introduced as the most interesting character with a mysterious backstory, but as soon as the Pacey/Dawson/Joey triangle became the main feature of the show she was relegated to secondary status despite being arguably the most talented actress. I'd be be upset if I were her too!
ReplyDeleteI never understood that decision either! I remember that all we would talk about is Jen and also how Dawson was having sex in real life with the guy who played his father on the show.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me now how word got around BEFORE the Internet :)
+100000!
ReplyDeleteYes you're right I remember MW was the new IT girl and then all of a sudden it became the Joey Potter show and I couldnt stand it.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that all of them were difficult to work with including Busy Phillips who would stay out late at night and get drunk and show up the next day and not know her lines. Busy and Michelle were friends and both of them made it obvious that they didn't like Katie Holmes. Holmes was rumored to be bulimic.
ReplyDeleteBefore Internet is the Dark Ages to me. I must have gotten so much done back then, but I can't remember because my entire memory is filled with memes.
ReplyDeleteI HATED the "Joey Potter Show." It was nauseating how she was made out to be this perfect person, the object of every man's desire and so perfect that she could get any job she wanted.
ReplyDeleteYay! Someone agrees with me!
ReplyDeleteIf I were so inclined (which I am not) I would be re-writing the DC finale so that the REAL outcome would have occurred!
Meanwhile, I'll just be watching Season 2 for nostalgia purposes and cursing myself for buying the whole series.
