Blind Items Revealed #10

Academy Awards
This A list mostly television actress from a very hit network show pretended to be all noble about appearing, but like a few others was paid between 50-100K to appear and some even had talking points prepared for them.
Kerry Washington
She's an Uncle Tom, what a shock. Not.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to believe the Motion Picture Academy would pay a tv star that much money to appear at their highest profile event while permanent A list stars aren't there.
ReplyDeleteWait, people are *paid* to present awards? Shouldn't they be lucky to get that kind of exposure?
ReplyDeleteThey are all for sale
ReplyDeleteBy whom was she being paid? Did she say anything about the lack of "people of color" not being nominated?
ReplyDeleteA most unmemorable reveal day.
ReplyDelete????
She's a walking cardboard cutout, in my opinion. Cold as ice.
ReplyDeleteI would have appeared for a round trip plane ticket and a nice hotel room.
ReplyDeleteIf she is going to cross the protest line she might as well be paid for it. Also, the Oscars was on her show's network. You want your show renewed and in a good time slot. You better be a company girl and show up when requested. That's the Hollywood game.
ReplyDeleteAt the very least, presenters get incredibly expensive, high-end swag baskets.
ReplyDelete+1 You often see stars of network shows on award shows, some that make no sense, like some of the TV stars that show up at country awards. So I guess they would pay them.
ReplyDeleteDon't see why they'd pay her though. You's think it would just be part of her job.
ReplyDeleteNot surprised at all this chick stay lying about everything. She will do anything to keep her name associated with doing something noble to keep the praises coming. It will all crash and burn when its revealed she had kids with Tony Goldwyn.
ReplyDeleteYeah, she seems very robotic .... no passion... but she must have some skills...not that pretty but seems very ambitious. ...would love to know story on the chid(ren) and the hubby.
ReplyDeleteIt's possible the network may have paid her to appear--ABC being Scandal's and the show's network. MPAA probably has to allow ABC to select a certain number of presenters which promotes ABC. And, as the star of a highly-rated show on the network, Washington recognized it as promotion for the show.
ReplyDeleteOr, the MPAA paid her to appear to make them look less awful with their all-white actor nominees, which frankly, is another legit reason to BE paid to appear. If she was "pretending to be noble", perhaps it was because she had to 'pretend' in order to not openly state the voters' selections were likely influenced by race (i.e. racist).
