This former A list mostly movie actress who has been acting since she was a kid is getting a chance to direct. She also has to get tested for booze multiple times each week as part of her deal.
Kirsten Dunst To Direct Sylvia Plath Adaptation 'The Bell Jar' Starring Dakota Fanning Deadline - 2 days ago EXCLUSIVE: Kirsten Dunst is set make her feature film directorial debut with The Bell Jar, an .
I REALLY like her as well---and you are correct-VERY ambitious for her first movie. I wonder how she got the rights for it? I looked up on IMDB at was adapted once in 1979--never seen or heard of it though (the movie). A Denmark production-didnt get great reviews though...
+1- I was actually really surprised that she chose a "The Bell Jar" remake for her directorial debut but I was not surprised at all that she chose Dakota to play the Syvia Plath-ish role... i guess we'll see....a decent interpretation of the book would be nice...some books should just be left as fine books though imo.
Enty is so full of shiz - no one gets tested for booze, if that were the case there would be no one left available to direct anything in Hollywood. And Kiki may like to get her drink on but she's not a fall-down malfunctioning drinker.
Getting tested for drugs or other substances, perhaps. There have been issues for her with that in the past, but it was several years ago. Kinda of double-standard-ish to have her tested but not other first time male directors who probably currently use.
Other male directors, and even actors, are tested for drugs and booze. If somebody is laying out cash to make the movie, you can be sure they want to protect their investment and not have it ruined by a director who is too drunk or high to work.

ReplyDeletesounds like an interesting project

ReplyDeleteSeems to me that's pretty ambitious for a directorial debut. I hope it goes well. I've always liked her.
I'm not sold on the casting, but I'd probably see it.

ReplyDeleteEven Ron Howard had to go through Roger Corman's low budget film-making to get a chance at being a director.
ReplyDeleteYou had to go and remind us though. I never would have remembered.
ReplyDeleteI think Drunxt should play Plath... it might push her over tho...is it even healthy to direct this story? Downer.
ReplyDeleteDiane Lane?

ReplyDeleteShe's too old now but I would of loved Angelina in this part. I loved the book and I think at one time she could of brought it to life
