Today's Blind Items - More 90's

#1 - This former A+ list actor and director who is trying to mount a comeback to A status the past couple of years used to have it written into his contract that editing needed to add in hair to his receding hairline. This was before CGI got good so more often than not when there was a closeup, his hair looked awful.

#2 - This beloved 70's and 80's star worked in some movies in the 90's and still has A+ list name recognition and some popular offspring. The reason she stopped working in movies was not retirement so much as no directors ever wanting to work with her if she was cast because she always had final cut in her movies during the 90's so they all ended up being bombs.

#3 - This 80's A+ list actress is now barely in demand for any movies. She used to be married to an A+ lister who has been A list for a few decades. Our actress stopped getting roles after she fired multiple directors and directors of photography because they were not shooting her the way she wanted. She also fired writers who didn't give her enough dialogue.

Offtopic, is it just me or does it seem like the 80's were the last decade with any distinction and character to them? The 80's, the 70's, the 60's, 50's, 40's, etc all had some definition and memorable qualities to them.

Not an important point of course, but I don't think I'll ever wax nostalgic about the 90's or early 2000's. There's not much outstanding about either timeframe.

Yeah Zilla I think the 90s was kind of meh and blurred into the 2000's without any distinction...can't put my finger on it.

  22. I've never understood how actors could fire directors/writers/etc. You're there to do a job, do it the best you can. Make suggestions, but don't fire people. Could you imagine if us "ordinary folk" were able to do that with bosses/co-workers?

  23. I guess you'd have to be born in the 90's to notice the difference compared to the 00's. It was stark for me. And the 10's have been different from the naughts. Not vastly different but certainly noticeable.

The "popular offspring"refers to #2 which is Goldie Hawn not #3 Meg Ryan

  25. In the 90's I don't know if he was so proud of it. Maybe now he has accepted it....

I don't like her daughter but I love goldies old movies like private Benjamin, night shift, foul play, seems like old times etc

I can say the same for demi Moore. Their offspring suck.

Shelly Long was the actress in Night Shift, ("Hold the phone, Chuck! Why not just feed mayonnaise directly to the tuna?")
But this does beg the question: Who would win in a kung fu fight - Shelly or Goldie? What about Lee Marvin vs James Coburn? Robert Blake or OJ Simpson? Russel Crowe vs Mel Gibson? Betty White vs Cloris Leachman? Mary Tyler Moore vs Cuba Gooding Jr? (That last one may actually happen when she hears how he threw his TV Land award in the trash.)

You're right! SWING shift with Kurt Russell is what I meant

    I'm soooo embarrassed!

How can you say that? Have you forgotten all of the demure but deadly femme fatales of the 90's: Lorena Bobbit, Tonya Harding, Monica Lewinski, each one of them just dripping with class and decorum. Or how about those great tv shows that wonderful decade gave rise to, like Jerry Springer, or the OJ Trial or Operation Desert Storm? Dont tell me you've forgotten the cultural impact of The Spice Girls or the Maccarena? If it werent for the 90's then the American music industry wouldve had nothing to bridge the gap between In Sync and One Direction! The 90's were a great decade... for bulimics.

Everyone Says I Love You, The First Wives Club and Death Becomes Her were all very successful weren't they? And there's no way she'd have had final cut over HouseSitter or any of those three. It was her 1999-2002 movies that sucked.
