I think if 90's shows aired when there was this 24/7 news cycle and Twitter, that the decade would have been amazing for gossip. As it was, all I remember all of the time was Shannen Doherty on tabloid cover after tabloid cover feuding with someone or doing drugs with someone. I literally could fill pages with items from these shows. The stars from the shows who were basically one and done love talking about those days.
#1 - This show actually barely qualifies for a 90's show. The cast hated each other. The parents and kids warred wth each other. The daughter on the show was underage and hooking up with a crew member. She was an out of control bulimic who crashed and burned as soon as the show ended.
#2 - The actress from #1 says the producers and writers were a certain level of creepy but you could deal with it. You knew what to expect. She says that when she went to this very short lived 90's show with at the time an A+ list actor not much older than her that he was super creepy. As in, scary, don't ever want to be alone with him creepy. The kind of guy she would find in her dressing room going through her stuff creepy. He still has A+ list name recognition.
#3 - This show ran almost a decade. Hell, it was longer than that in all of its different forms. It was filmed outside the US so it kind of stayed beneath the radar as far as gossip. One of the actors who was on a couple of different versions of the show also had the most drama surrounding him. he would sleep in his trailer a lot because his girlfriend at the time and now wife would catch him cheating. He left her so many times that no one ever knew if they were together until she would invariably come to the set screaming for him. I'm shocked they are still together after the horror stories she and the cast have shared about the relationship. He doesn't get much work any longer because of his reputation from the show.
1. Tracey Gold, Growing Pains??
ReplyDelete1. growing pains
ReplyDelete1-Andrea Elson ALF
ReplyDelete3)degrades I Junior high?
ReplyDeleteEnded in 91-
I was in elementary school in the 90s, so Im going to have to sit this one out
ReplyDelete3-Lorenzo Lamas?
ReplyDelete2-Kirk Cameron
ReplyDeleteThat's a great guess.
ReplyDeleteYep, she's a recovering bulemic, she married a crew member from ALF, and after ALF went off the air, she was on an episode of "Parker Lewis Can't Lose". Corin Nemec has ALWAYS given me the creeps, so I could see him being the creepy actor in #2 (although I doubt he was anywhere near A+ list at that time.)
ReplyDeleteGrowing Pains seems obvious, but Tracy is still friends with Joanna. Joanna even introduced Tracy to her husband.
ReplyDelete*Degrassi Jr.High or Sweet Valley High maybe
ReplyDelete1)Family Ties/Justine Bateman maybe
ReplyDeleteWAIT! How did I not know Kirk Cameron had another show after "Growing Pains"?!? I change my answer on #2 to him. Good find, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteI think this is definitely her, not so sure about the Kirk Cameron part - though I believe he's a creepy creepster.
ReplyDeletethx Stew
ReplyDeleteI accept Stew's research and +1
ReplyDeleteRenegade is the show.
ReplyDelete1. Justine Bateman ?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I read it as the creepster the actress worked with on her next show.
ReplyDelete#3 makes me think of Degrassi.
ReplyDeleteThink Alf is it, found this
ReplyDeletehttp://www.alftv.com/misc/alfpeoplemagazine.php
The dad at the show was supposed to be a ragging alcoholic during it also.
2. Leto
ReplyDeleteS Club 7 for #3 to be different.
ReplyDeleteWild guess... #3 - Michael Shanks ?? He was on Stargate SG1, filmed in Vancouver. There was a spinoff, Stargate Atlantis and a few movies made. He was with an actress on SG1 then left her for Alexandra Doig when they did an epi together on Andromeda.
ReplyDeletesame here, i was still in middle school in the 90's, too young to guess anything lol
ReplyDelete"Family Ties" went off the air in 1989, so I don't think it's Justine Bateman. ALF went off in March of 1990, so that works given the reference to "barely qualifies as 90s show".
ReplyDeleteDid Tracy Wells ever do anything after Mr. Belvedere?
ReplyDeleteThe only problem I can see with this is that Kirk Cameron is apparently a little younger than Andrea Elson, and the blind says the actor is a little older than the actress. But . . . . this is Enty . . . details like this are often subject to change. :D
ReplyDeleteTracy Wells was a guest star on Growing Pains but I'm pretty sure that was before Mr. Belvedere ended. Interesting thought, though!
ReplyDeleteReally? In which universe was Kirk Cameron an A+ list actor that maintains this rating even today? He must have this rating among religious fanatics.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same for 2. My so called life
ReplyDeleteyes really from 1988 or so to whenever Growing Pains ended and his show "Kirk" failed. and his NAME RECOGNITION is A+
ReplyDeletehe was one of the biggest young stars on TV when Growing Pains was on, that's A+.
ReplyDeleteDigrassi high for the third, but I don't know anyone but wheelchair Jimmy AKA Drake.
ReplyDeletecan't see family ties cause there were two daughters not the daughter. I graduated hs in 89 and still can't think except for ALF. Barely 90s would mean it ended in 1990 I would imagine. Hogan Family didn't have a daughter.
ReplyDeleteFor #3 I'm guessing 21 Jump Street -- it was filmed in Canada and has had spinoffs and movies to this day. I don't know who the person would be though.
ReplyDeletePLEASE keep the 90s show blind items coming!!!! (80s too! - got any good items about cast members from Fame?)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant detective work on ALF & Kirk.
ReplyDeleteI loved Parker Lewis & Corin Nemec - just saw that he is in a Lifetime movie airing next week - squee!
#3 has to be Degrassi...due to multiple iterations - no one famous enough to care about though (Drake was only on "the next generation").
You Got This One @ EmpressGold--very nice!
ReplyDeleteMichael Shanks is an excellent guess, the only the thing that makes me think it might not be about him is that it says he doesn't work much now, but Michael Shanks has been working on a Canadian TV series called Saving Hope for 3 or 4 years now.
ReplyDeleteI worked in the Vancouver TV industry for a chunk of the late 90s and early 2000s (not on stargate) and it's such a small industry there that everyone knew everyone. I know Michael Shanks had a bad rap for being difficult to work with and he did get around with women and I've heard a lot of not flattering things about this treatment of lexia doig and I'm surprised they are still together. He's totally a hot head and I know he's no longer on speaking terms with former castmate Chris Judge.
