Throughout her life, this permanent A+ list mostly movie actress had photos and portraits and clippings of this A list mostly movie actor scattered throughout her house. The closeted gay actor was her very best friend. Until the day he died, she would never go out socially unless he would be present.
Elizabeth Taylor/Montgomery Clift
Seriously one of the main reasons why I love this woman, is that not only was she besties with a lot of these closeted gay actors, but got involved with AIDS work and started a charity when everyone else was still scared of it.

ReplyDeleteSay what you will about her personal life but when it came to battling that plague she didn't care who she alienated or who never spoke to her again she was determined to do her part. I will always remember what she said "If it wasn't for gay men there would be NO Hollywood" LOL
When A Place In The Sun came out in 1951. I was 9 years old and already reading Photoplay and Silver Screen magazine. among others. There was a full-page photo of Montgomery Clift and I was hooked! He was absolutely gorgeous. He was sensitive and frail and gifted. We all read about his love affair with La Liz for years. She wanted desperately to marry him, but that was never to be. For those of you who never saw any of his films, you might watch the early ones before The Misfits. By Misfits he was a drunken mess and could barely function. His automobile accident destroyed more than his face. He was never the same. A real Hollywood Star.
ReplyDeleteA little exaggerated...
ReplyDeleteWe'd like to leave our Liz Shrine untouched.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't blind. It isn't even an item. Anybody who knows anything at all about Hollywood knows this.
ReplyDeleteHogwash. Clift died in 1966. Taylor spent most of the 1960's out with Richard Burton, socializing, in public! Even after divorcing Burton, she spent nearly every night of the 70's in Studio 54 with Minnelli and Halston! Yes, Clift and Taylor were besties, but to say she was some kind of recluse after he died is simply not true. Faux Enty is probably a 19 year old intern who doesn't think anyone here is actually old enough to remember Taylor in her prime.

Seems disturbing that someone would have a whole conversation with themselves, no?
You just need to look at how they all write the same and the time stamps, wasn’t too difficult to figure out.
Uh oh… busted…
This is not a blind item, and methinks it's a bit of an exaggeration. Taylor was indeed devoted to Monty Clift, but I'm pretty sure she socialized without him.
ReplyDelete1). Who cares?
ReplyDelete2). Do you have a job?
I fully believe this- I even mentioned it months ago but his dick-suckers poo-poo it. Much like this imbecile kate(derick)who asked 1)who cares and
ReplyDelete2)if you have a job
Yes, we all have jobs and we care to get him to stfu.
Its so creepy, his different personalities.

No, she wasn't a recluse after Clift died but she did make sure that everyone invited him to the same parties she was invited to.
ReplyDeleteAs for this: "Even after divorcing Burton, she spent nearly every night of the 70’s in Studio 54 with Minnelli and Halston!"
No, she didn't. Liza and Halston were there pretty often but Elizabeth Taylor only showed up occasionally.
You're delusional, @blahblah. Seriously - delusional. All these other people you think are Derek? They aren't Derek. You are obsessed with Derek and it's very unhealthy.
ReplyDeleteIt's actually you who needs to shut the fuck up.
Taylor socialized without him more than with him. She was all over the world with Mike Todd, Burton - Clift was mainly in NYC or Hollywood. Sure they spent time together when they were in the same city, as close friends would, but they went months without seeing each other, and it never slowed Taylor down. This is why Enty's blinds are always trashed by other gossip outlets - he/she/they take a grain of truth and blow it up into something patently false.
ReplyDeleteThat is fascinating. Thank you for this Enty, I had never heard this before about the very great Elizabeth Taylor.
