Blind Item #6- Kindness

This actress is probably best known for her work on Broadway. I think that is a great forum for her, but her comedy is better displayed in movies and television. She has been in some blinds in the past, but she has done something pretty remarkable. The actress, who is probably B+ list has raised close to $50M for charities. She plays so many events for free so the organizers can keep all the funds. She signs things they can sell. She does meet and greets they can sell. She is an unstoppable force who probably does almost as many paying gigs as non-paying in any given year.

I never understood kindness blinds. "Please don't tell anyone I do these amazing selfless things! Argh"

    Ha!
Another thing I'll never understand - that it's extraordinary for a celebrity to forego a fee when performing for CHARITY.
If you get paid, it's not charity work. It's work.

  14. What I love about this is there are quite a few possibilities as the answer. After too many drug/cheating blinds it is refreshing that there is a kindness blind that could be multiple people!

What a great way to start my day! Anything regarding Kristin Chenoweth! A total doll. Not to mention her pitch perfect voice. Needed some sunshine this morning after sitting up all night watching Bloodlines. Isn't the actor who plays Danny fabulous? Australian someone told me.

They are required to disclose, if you ask, what percentage of your donation goes to actual service to the charity.
They will try to obfuscate by referring to "net profits," but press them for specifics or don't donate.
It's how Wounded Warrior was exposed for million-dollar trips and parties foe employees. The percentage of donations used to serve actual disabled vets was very low.

Yaaasssss. I just finished Bloodline last night. Loved, loved, loved Danny. He's a great actor. Wasn't too crazy about season 2, though.

Agreed. In my younger days, I was a part time telemarketer and fundraiser and kept the part time job even when I found full time work until some laws changed and required disclosure. I was making 10% of whatever I sold or got in donations. End of the year was ka-ching good times. I am on the national do not call registry and when I purchase tickets for symphony or concerts. No phone number for their call list.

Ben Mendelshon(Danny in Bloodline) was robbed at the Golden Globes..1st) he should've been nominated for the Leading Male in a series not merely Supporting Male b/c he WAS the heart of Bloodline & in almost every scene.2nd) he lost to Christian Slater in Mr Robot-that never should've happened & this is coming from a HUGE season 1 Mr. Robot fan(i thought Rami Malek as Elliott in Mr. Robot was totally robbed too).

    Kristen Chenowith
I think that Jane Krakowski is as well if not better well known for her comedic chops on TV for Ally Beal and 30 Rock (since she HAS been nominated at least 4 times for an emmy & a GG)rather than her singing/acting chops on Broadway

okay,okay... i didn't know that Kristen won an Emmy for TV's Pushing Daisies so there's that...

If you get credit and applause for doing good, then you can begin to feel like you're actually being selfish, and riding the backs of whoever you set out to help to get a little good publicity. You may come to feel hypocritical about it.

And the people that get paid six figure salaries for working at "charities" is utter bullshit too. Quel hipocrisy!

I don't plan on watching Season 2 because I made that mistake with Blacklist. The second season was just godawful. I have learned from my mistake.

Wonderful! Yes, a lot of famous people prefer to do charitable things without giving their name. Such as when Steve Jobs wrote an anonymous check for over 100 million for cancer research. Johnny Carson all the time saw people in need, and sent money and help anonymously. I don't blame them and good for them for caring.

  38. Yes but it's still public information. You're more than capable of finding out how much of a charity's donations aren't administrative before you make your donation.
