Blind Item #3
Wanting to keep her secrets intact, this A+ list singer is trying to make a deal with people suing her foreign born main ghostwriter who does a bit of A- list singing himself. She doesn't want him to have to talk about his work under oath. No one knows she uses ghostwriters.
Taylor swifts??
ReplyDeleteAnd Ed Sheeran maybe...no clue
ReplyDeleteBeyonce

ReplyDeleteYep. 20 million dollar lawsuit against him :(
Beyonce and Katy Perry have atleast 15 people credited on their songs. Taylor Swift is the only A+ list singer i can think of that claims to write her music, the Ghost writer sounds like Ed Sheeran but he doesn't do just "a bit of singing"
ReplyDeleteIt's long been rumored that Beyonce has ghostwriters that she keeps on the DL. It's been mentioned here & other places.
ReplyDeleteThe blind item says he's an A- list singer, so I think that "does a bit of singing" wording is just rhetorical.
ReplyDeleteWill anyone care if Taylor had ghostwriters? She's no Stevie Wonder.
ReplyDeleteNice work!
ReplyDeleteI think Taylor does write her own music which is why it's repetitive, basic, banal, and monotonous. Her latest are more catchy tunes and I'm glad she switched to pop...but compare her so called breakup songs to the emotional heft of Adele's songs and there is no comparison. Adele has depth, which requires living, pain, experience and loss as well as recovery. Taylor doesn't t have that sort of depth in her music because she's too controlling or too contrived.
ReplyDeleteThis is Ed Sheeran. I heard the other song played yesterday and it's damn near the same. It could wreck him.
You know what? I take that back. Ed Sheeran's music is pretty banal maybe it IS the same ghostwriter?
Thx@kibble:)
ReplyDeleteI think Taylor writes her own music but also uses ghostwriters from time to time. I think it's a combo. It confuses me because she's known to collaborate with other songwriters on most of her albums, all of whom are credited. The only album where she is the sole songwriter is Speak Now.
ReplyDeleteAgree that it's Taylor/Ed. Although I don't know why that's necessary in her case.
I do believe Taylor Swift wrote most of her songs.....in the beginning.
ReplyDeleteNow, I have no idea if people help her out to make them more 'listenable' and pop....but for me, there is no question: the blind is about Ed Sheeran as the ghostwriter who sings himself and is being sued for copying that other song (I listened to them both, OMG it sounds EXACTLY the same), thus he might have to go under oath.
Swift being the A+ who is psycho about keeping secrets. Girl, you really think you can control it all? Good luck.
Ghostwriters!?! i call B.S. swifty, for all her faults has a very distinctive, signature songwriting style. It's clearly her own voice. she had/has a producer nathan and co-writer on some of her early records liz white, even legends like neil young respect her writing talent. Ed on the other hand has form for 'borrowing' ideas from others. I'm guessing she is using her industry power to help a friend.
ReplyDeleteAdele is a better singer but not remotely in the same league as a songwriter. She has one style of overwrought piano ballad she reproduces endlessly.
ReplyDeleteHer first two albums were mostly self written, the third totally self written and the last two has collabs with max martin for the 'pop sound'.
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense now--if he's being sued she's probably freaking out about that. I just didn't get the implication that she only used ghostwriters in the blind because she's typically open about collaborating with people.
ReplyDelete@I agree that Adele has that overwrought ballad thing going on, I disagree that Taylor is a better songwriter. Adele's songs have better lyrics, has some counterpoint, has more complex melodies that do not rely on lots of repetitive bridges. But that said, I see Taylor has a very solid song writing discipline but I don't think the music itself is all that challenging (personally I don't like either songwriter that much. I personally love Sia right now in Pop song world). Let's agree to disagree because taste is a personal preference and lyrics speak to one person and not to another.
ReplyDeleteMe I tend to listen to Pink Martino and post modern jukebox. I listen to a LOT of heavy classical music so my perspective is from an older gal and not someone in her twenties.
Swifty cowrites all her songs collaborating with the blokes who dumped her the week before writing them.
ReplyDeleteYeah right, Swifty isn't hardworking, she's about publicity, that's how she spends all of her time. OF COURSE she has ghostwriters, if you think she has a distinctive songwriting style it is because she's been using the same ghostwriter for a long time and that's HIS songwriting style which you thought was hers. Wake up, your blonde idol is a lie.
ReplyDeleteBlah, blah, blah, says the Swifty fan cultist. Your Goddess is a lie. Wake up.
ReplyDeleteShania Twain's music was repetitive and she had a songwriter, the simplicity of lyrics does not indicate that they belong to Swift.
ReplyDeleteKaty Perry has written singles and hits for other artists and she doesn't have 15 song writers on her album. Beyoncé on the other hand barely knows how to write....
ReplyDeleteNote he said SINGER not singer songwriter. IMO is Beyoncé as she loves to claim song write credits and everyone knows she can't write 2 sentences or even speak properly one of the reasons she doesn't do interviews
ReplyDeleteIf eds smart he'll pay the guy off before it goes to court. After hearing the two songs, the other guy definitely has a case against ed sheeran. It's the same song just speed up a little
ReplyDeleteSort of doesn't even matter if beyonce has Ghost writers if she credits a bunch of people anyway
ReplyDeleteSwift hasn't been shy about admitting to using Max Martin and Sheeran in the past, so this is dumb. Sheeran writes for tons of people, including Bieber's "Love yourself".
