Blind Item #4
This foreign born B list mostly movie actress is going to explode to A list within the next 12 months. She is the new "it" person. By the time she gets around to promoting that blockbuster movie of hers, she is going to be eclipsing the fame of the franchise actress who is the star. Anyway, it can all come crashing down if the world finds out about her hooking up with this married A+ list mostly movie actor who is a recent co-star. They can't stop seeing each other.

I wouldn't describe Sophie Turner as mostly movie. Margot Robbie is the obvious guess but does the Batman/Superman have an A+ female star? Amy Adams? That seems to be a stretch, I consider her character to be supporting.
ReplyDeleteB lister who is going to be A lister: Gugu Mbatha-Raw. She has 3 movies coming out this year and could well be an Oscar winner for Free State of Jones. She's playing second fiddle to Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast. A+ lister she's fooling around with? McConaughey? He's her leading man in Free State and he's always preferred the company of black women.

ReplyDeleteB lister who's going to be A list in a year: Brit Gugu Mbatha Raw (she's been cast in several juicy roles and could get an Oscar for Free State of Jones, a historical biopic).
Franchise actress: Emma Watson. She's playing the lead in Beauty and the Beast with Gugu playing second fiddle, but Gugu may be a much bigger star by the time it comes out.
Recent A+ co-star she's messing around with: McConaughey.

Gugu starred in two critically acclaimed movies Belle and Beyond the Lights and was widely considered to have been snubbed for an Oscar nom. She played Will Smith's wife in Concussion and has just been cast in a couple of very high profile movies. Her film with McConaughey's definitely Oscar bait. With Oscarssowhite controversy, she is unlikely to be overlooked next year.

-She's also in the next "Star Wars Episode VIII" movie so she's doing quite well for herself.
@Jo Hollywood tends to cast "potentials," especially when it comes to women's roles, and even more so when they have a strong lead, like McConaughey.
ReplyDeleteAt the time this production was put together, Matty M had a lot of clout, coming off Dallas Buyers Club, True Detective and Interstellar.
Gugu M-R had come off successful, albeit, not particularly mainstream projects, yet projects that Industry people would absolutely be paying attention to. @Sadie is correct in that Gugu M-R is absolutely well positioned to rise this up coming year. She's very talented and pretty, I could see her overshadowing Emma Watson, from what I've seen, she can really act.
Gugu and McConaughey were at the CinemaCon presentation (along with the women from Bad Moms in the other blind) and they posed for photos looking like they'd never actually met each other and both were running for elective office which made me suspicious.
