Blind Item #3
The happy faces you saw while doing press and at the premiere of this long long awaited sequel were all a sham. The A+ list actor who also produces still is at war with the actress who stars in both films.

ReplyDeleteCould it be My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2? Tom Hanks being the a+
Enty you big fat trickster--My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 was long awaited by no one :(
ReplyDelete+1 i had no idea he produced it
ReplyDeleteWhy are they at war though?
ReplyDeleteTom and Rita took all the money from the first one allegedly.
ReplyDeletePeople from the new Captain America?
ReplyDeleteWell,if it is BFGW2, Hanks better get over it. Nia Vardalos has made him and Rita LOTS of money.
ReplyDeleteHarrison Ford/Carrie Fisher
ReplyDelete+1-nice one! Totally forgot Hanks was involved-hell, i totally forgot about the film
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about MBFGW and the profit split at the time. Tom Hanks's wife Rita is Greek-American and she saw Nia Vardalos performing in the play on which MBFGW was based. She persuaded her husband Tom Hanks to back the film and they got it off the ground.

According to that article Nia Vardalos got 8% of the gross. Even if you take the lower gross provided by the companies who financed it ($287 million) she made $23 million. I don't know how much Hanks/Wilson made but I seem to recall it was a LOT more than she did.
Anyway the world-wide estimates of the gross were almost $100 million higher - if those are correct Vardalos should have gotten another $7 or $8 million.
Back after the first movie became a blockbuster, Vardalos and the Hanks' teamed up to sue the financial backers. I don't know why Vardalos would be at war with Hanks ... sure he and his wife made way more off her movie than she did, but she made a crapton of money off it herself and arguably it wouldn't have gotten made without their backing.
ReplyDeleteHanks Vardalos
